Pilchards Posted 18 September, 2009 Share Posted 18 September, 2009 I see on the Yeovil build up thread that David Connolly has been training all week with us (according to Wildsaint) Does anyone have anymore knowledge of this? If its true then this guy knows the way to stick a ball in the net.
S-Clarke Posted 18 September, 2009 Share Posted 18 September, 2009 Haven't heard - but he'd be a good signing. In a way though, he's kind of Similar to saga in stature and movement - can't see us having both.

Might be getting him mixed up with someone else but i thought he was about the same build and height as 'King' David Healy?
Saint_clark Posted 18 September, 2009 Share Posted 18 September, 2009 Don't know much about him to be honest, what makes people think he will be a goalscorer at this level? Has he scored goals regularly at any level before?

Below the premiership he has an excellent record so I would suggest even in his twighlight years he should be good at this level allthough his recent injury record is a concern. Iowsaintsfan Posted 18 September, 2009 Share Posted 18 September, 2009 Wikipedia says he has recently been on trial with QPR - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Connolly Or is he just undercover ;-) [/url] He is currently on trial at Queens Park Rangers. Having being let go by QPR he is now rumoured to be talking to Carlisle United about a possible short term contract. Graham Kavanagh who he played with at Sunderland is a reason behind the move as he is now a player/coach at Carlisle United.

oxfordshire_saint Posted 18 September, 2009 Share Posted 18 September, 2009 If he could be obtained on a low-risk contract based on appearances and goals, ala Michael Owen at Utd, he'd be worth having, as he is, for want of a better phrase, a "fox in the box" Seems to have been around forever now though, I thought he was older than 32! eurosaint Posted 18 September, 2009 Share Posted 18 September, 2009 I guess we'd be looking to get shot of a few others out on loan first as AP has already said that the squad is too big ??
Bailey Posted 18 September, 2009 Share Posted 18 September, 2009 Still tracking Agyemang too, but now Helguson has joined Watford on loan, it's looking more unlikely. I don't think QPR will be willing to let both go as they would be short of options in attack. As for Connolly, he'd be a good signing. Experienced player who has a good record in lower league football. Although he wouldn't be a long-term solution, he could certainly do a job for another year or two. Fan The Flames Posted 18 September, 2009 Share Posted 18 September, 2009 107 goals in 280 games, he could poke a few in for us, would be a good signing.
Saint Samuel Posted 18 September, 2009 Share Posted 18 September, 2009 Lets hope we can sign him, even with Rickie Lambert we're very short on firepower. Only Millwall have scored less goals than us in league one this season, Connelly gives us more options up front.

Agyemang is not wanted and is not liked by other players, wed let him go without a second though because he cant even get into the squad when we are so short up front. Hes on big wages so Im not sure if hed go to Saints because hes a bertie big ****** who drives a bentley and would rather not play and pick up the cash rather than drop down and take a pay cut.. Connolly wasnt really on trial with QPR, he was just training to keep fit.

That's interesting - I saw a chunky black guy in a black bentley driving down the avenue earlier this week and it crossed my mind he looked like a "footballer" (interpret that as you see fit) - with a very odd but presumably personalised number plate. Maybe.........

Usually parked round the back of Oxford Street (park side).
