Ok so it's all falling into place and it appears we finally have a good team aswell as a good squad.

So come to January, Markus has sanctioned some money, who would you go for that would realistically join Saints.

Do we need anyone in your eyes?

So all in all:

A) Who would you bring in?

B) Get rid of?

Here's my fivers worth:

A: Trotman & Antonio (permanent signings please). Bring in a RB to replace Murty (keep him as cover), a striker to give us more options when Waigo returns to Fiorentina and a LM to add depth/option to switch formations.

B: Saganowski, as his heart clearly isn't in it (buy him free if necessary), Pulis is a waste of money and space IMO, Molyneux, he's nowhere near the first team, Gillett and Forecast.

I'd keep Lancashire for the moment. Maybe his loan spell will do him good.

I would also keep an eye out for a holding defensive midfielder to replace Wotton in time.

Agree with all of this really. Only other position I'd consider bringing someone in for would be the defensive midfield role that Wotton's playing at the moment. He is doing it really well but with someone of real quality we could see our midfield, at least when playing this 4-5-1 system, really taken to another level.

A: Trotman and Antonio permanent, Mellis (extended until the end of the season)..........

and a fit Murty would be probably be good enough. Nathan Thompson, Swindon Right Back would be a great buy, whether or not Murty makes it back.

If there was a chance to get a realistic backup to Super Kelvin, I think it would be a good investment as it could all fall apart if the defence loses confidence behind a dodgy keeper.

I'd also like to see another big but mobile Centre Half (I guess I might be the only person not convinced by Jaidi though).

B: Bart, Forecast, Gillet, Holmes, Pullis, Molyneaux, Saga to go.

I wouldn't be too hastey with getting rid of Saga, if lambert gets injured, we've got no-one else to hold the ball up. If ( that is a massive if) saga wants to stay, keep him, or loan him.

Bart, or Forecast with Holmes (maybe) on loan.

Gillet, Pulis and Moleneaux to be sold, or released.

A. Trotman and Antonio made permanent. If only that happened I would be happy. If we could get another RB with Murty as cover and a LB to cover for Harding that would be good. Otherwise we are sorted until the CCC beckons as Perry and Thomas can cover across the back. Also need a new decent understudy to Kelv D.

B. Get shot of Saga, Pulis, Molyneaux, Gillet, Forecast, Bart.

A - Trotman, Antonio permanently. A RB (no idea who) in the similar mould to Harding.

B - Forecast, Gillett, Pulis, Molyneux, Lancashire, Saganowski.

We may have a job hanging on to Trotman, Antonio, Harding, Spiderman and Lallana, all of whom are crucial to our current good form. So it's pretty much back into the melting pot. Continuing our good run up to January is really important since we could be back to rebuilding a side again. I hope it doesn't happen and that that would be because they all want to remain in a side that is going places.

Realising how easily the squad could be dismantled makes me appreciate all the more how brilliantly they played on Saturday against MK Dons.

But the player that we most need to replace is Wotton. He has done well recently but his limitations are well known and he ain't getting any younger..

Why would we have trouble holding onto harding , lallana , spiderman? they contracted to us and by no means do we have to sell anymore... COYR!!!

I recall ..not so long ago we had SIX central defenders injured at the same time !. The Jaidi / Trotman pairing looks good now, and hopefully they will stay fit and suspension free, but if the same were to ahppen again, then we are back to Thomas and Perry...Mmmm..maybe alright for one game but no long term. If Murty comes back fighting fit then I 'd be happy, but a younger Jaidi-type would reassure me.

Strikers are notorious for inconsistancy...many people recall James Beatties 23 goal season - but it took him the first NINE games to get off the mark! He had two "purple patches" scoring in 5... and later 6... consecutive games.

Fine if Lambert, Lallana and Connolly continue in form, but early on in Strachan's time we had 5 injured strikers in mid Jan.

If Saga isn't up to it, and Paterson is still not the real thing yet, we need another experienced striker around.

Goal diff.will be important at seasons end.

A) Bring in: Trotman, Antonio, Papa Waigo (On permanents)

As for other targets, we still need another Right back and Holding Striker. Possibly Jordon Rhodes or Simeon Jackson. Not sure about defenders though.

B) Get rid of Lancashire, Pulis, Molyneux, Saga, Forecast, Perry and Gobern.

Whats all this trouble holding on to players...

1. We are no longer a selling club. We dont have to anymore.

2. This is a club with ambition, a good ground and setup, and good support. That looks like its going somewhere. Players have an incentive to stay, not to go and warm the bench elsewhere.

Why Gobern? I reckon he'll be a very good player in a year or two.

Just about to say the same thing! I would be amazed if the club sanctioned anyone leaving who Pards wants to keep. Its fair to say that everyone has a price but at last we are in a position to dictate the terms of players leaving.

I'm sure that everyone of the perm signings which Pards has made are here for the long term, the only player to be tempted away is Lallana as he knows he has the talent but I think he will go next summer not in Jan.

As a final note.....pards has said that whoever leaves, we have the ability to bring in players of a similar or better standard, not something we have been used to!

Continually selling our best players got us into this mess in the first place. To repeat that exercise would not be the best advice would it!!!! If they're under contract keep them - we can afford to so why would we contemplate selling them - I ask you!
