beatlesaint Posted 12 November, 2009 Share Posted 12 November, 2009 Was ian Darke (?) he's a Pompey fan. I thought he was very fair and said some very complimentary things about us. Minto ...well he was very biased Ian Darke, despite being a Pompey fan has always been very very fair when commentating on the Saints, and that goes back years to when Sky first started covering football. He is one of the best commentators around IMHO and never shows any bias. I thought Minto was very good too, dont see that he was bias, he said all night that we were much much better. The only one biased was Franny
saintjay77 Posted 12 November, 2009 Share Posted 12 November, 2009 I liked it when Franny kept saying "We" when refering to saints then remembering he is on TV corrected himself to say the saints. Like he was trying to remain unbias for the camera's lol.
richie Posted 12 November, 2009 Share Posted 12 November, 2009 Didnt Franny say 'out on the p1ss' to the presenter when they were talking before the match. I was reading the paper at the time but I'm sure I heard that. They were both sat there thinking 'oh sh1t!'
Scummer Posted 12 November, 2009 Share Posted 12 November, 2009 I was a bit surprised that they didn't know Thomas had spent a lot of his career at right back though. And slightly less surprised that they didn't know James' preferred position is central midfield.

stevegrant Posted 12 November, 2009 Share Posted 12 November, 2009 It was amusing that they thought we had forgotten Deon Burton was a skate To be fair, there were loads of people stood near me in the Northam who were shouting "you fat bastard" at him rather than the "you skate bastard" that a few of us had started

Ken Tone Posted 12 November, 2009 Share Posted 12 November, 2009 He also happened to mention in the second half that Markus Liebherr was a German!! Which he is/was originally at least, but the commentator also implied he was the crane-firm Liebherr, ie his brother, as opposed to the 'common rail diesel' firm Liebherr. Re; Scummers' >>>slightly less surprised that they didn't know James' preferred position is central midfield. Am I the only person who thinks never what his preferred postion is, he is actually better at right back than central midfield now? k.

macthesaint Posted 12 November, 2009 Share Posted 12 November, 2009 Minto made the "Lallana wil be attracting the attention of big clubs" comment. That wound me up for some reason! Though Darke was fair to us,he felt that we can push for playoffs.Even Minto agreed after previously saying mid table would be an achievement.
