Matthew Le God Posted 9 January, 2010 Share Posted 9 January, 2010 "There are clearly instalments for players coming INTO the club as well" - not necessarily. The guy on the radio is wrong it doesn't go straight to the club. Like with the PL holding back the Sky money, they will also hold back transfer money to pay other clubs. Saint_clark Posted 9 January, 2010 Share Posted 9 January, 2010 "P*mpey's stadium is not big enough" No sh*t. It's too big, if recent attendances are anything to go by. Brilliant spin from Jacobs on right now.
Matthew Le God Posted 9 January, 2010 Share Posted 9 January, 2010 (edited) "P*mpey's stadium is not big enough" No sh*t. Actually if anything it is too big! They have been getting 17k in a 20k stadium in the Premiership. When in the Championship they had crowds of 10k. The problem is that the stadium quality isn't good enough with lack of corporate boxes etc to bring in money. What they need is a modern stadium with good facilities and corporate boxes of similar size to the current ground maybe 24k max. S-Clarke Posted 9 January, 2010 Share Posted 9 January, 2010 ''We're not going to have a fire sale'' ''every player has their price'' ''we don't need to sell any players'' ''i think it's inevitable some players will leave, we have a big squad'' ok, what do you believe....spin of the highest order. Saint_clark Posted 9 January, 2010 Share Posted 9 January, 2010 Well there's an admission from Jacobs The embargo will probably be lifted - but ONLY due to player instalments being paid off by the TV money they Premier League are withholding from them. No good making such a big deal out of the embargo being lifted when in actual fact you are not really getting anywhere.
SuperMikey Posted 9 January, 2010 Share Posted 9 January, 2010 It's too big, if recent attendances are anything to go by. Brilliant spin from Jacobs on right now. Exactly, it's not the stadium that matters as long as you fill it, it's whether people want to go or not! 11k attendances for a Premiership club nowadays is absolutely pathetic, especially for a reasonably large club such as Portsmouth with their relative success over the last couple of years (if you can call beating Cardiff in the cup final success). They could have a stadium the size of Wembley, but if only 10,000 people are going to go and watch a game then what's the point? P*mpey have been slashing their ticket prices to absurd levels for a top flight club, yet their attendances are consistently poor. Also with their loans being secured against their TV money (which is now being distributed among other clubs that P*mpey owe money too) I think they are properly in the poo. Matthew Le God Posted 9 January, 2010 Share Posted 9 January, 2010 "There will not be a firesale......" "Will there be one or two players leaving though?" "I think it's inevitable" Lol... One or two players leaving doesn't make a firesale. So he didn't contradict himself. I do however think it will be more than 1 or 2.
