Matthew Le God Posted 12 February, 2010 Share Posted 12 February, 2010 Agreed. Haven't felt like this since the Sheffield United game at home. It is a very different situation to that, so surely you feel different about being an underdog in a cup game compared to potentially getting relegated?
Nineteen Canteen Posted 12 February, 2010 Share Posted 12 February, 2010 Last 3 games I have watched are Exeter, Stockport and MK Dons all at home all home wins. I have seen nothing in those 3 performances to suggest we can get near to beating Pompey tomorrow and their performance on Tuesday night suggests that we will be well beaten. I hope I am wrong but they have more reason to raise their game (one already above our level) and pure survival can be a hell of a motivator and AP will have a job motivating our troops to that level. In fact I am concerned some of our players may be overawed by the atmosphere. Lambert was unaware how much it meant and Waigo and Antonio I suspect will be clueless about the importance and their inconsistency and light 'weightedness' must be a concern. Davis, Thomas, Harding and Jaidi are potentially the only players who may have experienced games of this intensity. I hope if the worse happens and we lose I hope it is with dignity and any arrests are purely from the blue corner.

No, you should stick with your original opinion. In this instance you can't change how you feel and if smug posters want to challenge a post where most know where you are coming from then best ignore them. Its not a time for text books. Nineteen Canteen Posted 12 February, 2010 Share Posted 12 February, 2010 Fair enough. I thought it was obvious what I meant as well. But of course, MLG has been in a right foul mood lately Marking all those mock exams and worrying about 5 A-C pass rates including Maths and English so they can have a healthy intake to start programming in September. Or he could just be smug and self-important.

Gigersaint Posted 12 February, 2010 Share Posted 12 February, 2010 (edited) Been looking forward to this since the draw, up until Wednesday I was quite patiently waiting. But the last couple of days I have been more than distracted to the build up of this game including Pompeys fate, and since then have had this site minimised on my Desktop at work so I could regularly pop it up and view the latest postings. Today I spent as much time on here as working and the anticipation of tomorrows game is now one of genuine excitement. I really hope we do win but whatever the result I'm sure it will be a great day, albeit a lot more sombre should we lose. dubai_phil Posted 13 February, 2010 Share Posted 13 February, 2010 Thank heavens the OP mentioned Xmas Eve as a nipper. Memories of the toys you almost wanted rather than when you get older and all you get is a "nice" aftershave from the car boot sale and a woolly jumper which you REALLY need down here. Memories of hanging a sack up - to remind you of what will happen to Storrie teller next week some time:-) A Happy day, the GF sensed it when she went off to work this morning with the words I know you're going to be back late of course you'll be out partying all night, the result's written in the Stars. Wish I was as confident! You lucky bstds to those going, a good luck to those struggling in deep dark corners of the world with internet streams at ungodly hours, today, just once, it feels like we belong to something special that is much bigger than all of us. It is something special. We are as one, chosen. Even if we lose (most of us are realists) we'll shed a proverbial tear but will stand proud that we have something special as aints fans. I'll be watching it in the Loco Club in Eastleigh. If any forum member comes in, just look out for the fat bstd in a red and black top. Introduce yourself and I'll buy you a beer! Even my pet skates say they dislike him and that he smells like he hasn't washed for years. Why do I believe them? I had a dream that he got chucked out the ground and was dragged past the Northam to be taken out, was getting sh*t loads of abuse, struggled against the coppers hitting one of them in the process and ended up with a baton across the knees and pepper spray in the face. All the time with every single Saints fan shouting "you skate b*stard" at him.
