JRM Posted 19 February, 2010 Share Posted 19 February, 2010 I do not work for Greyhound either, but have travelled down from London with them and can confirm you get at least 2 x more leg room than normal coaches, really comfortable seats and they are cheap, couldn't fault them at all. CWD Posted 19 February, 2010 Share Posted 19 February, 2010 I always get the train into london and then get the greyhound back to Portsmouth when I come home from uni (and vice versa on the way back). Would really recommend it, very comfortable and easy

JRM Posted 19 February, 2010 Share Posted 19 February, 2010 Do the saints travel club do reductions for juniors? If not, a family of 2 adults, 2 kids would be £100 with saints on Greyhound that would be £60 and get to travel on better coaches!!
saintframps Posted 19 February, 2010 Share Posted 19 February, 2010 Thanks for this, we have just booked 10 seats (3 Adults, 2 OAPs and 5 kids) in total it came to £130 so we have saved a fortune on the official travel prices. Just as an update OAPs are only a tenner each. The lady in the booking office said that there are still loads of places left.

JRM Posted 19 February, 2010 Share Posted 19 February, 2010 It's good that Greyhound are offering a service to compete against the rip off prices of the Travel Club. Exactly what I was thinking, if the club want to engage in blatant profiteering, then having a company prepared to take them on is good news for saints fans as it will create a market and keep prices down. With the large numbers of families doing this game I'd expect greyhound will be able to fill loads of coaches.

hamster Posted 19 February, 2010 Share Posted 19 February, 2010 Wowzers!! they are even outpricing StuRomseysaint!! How the hecjk can this be so I wonder? Maybe Stu could cut out the bacon sarnies? I sincerely am pleased for people mavking few bucks and the other fringe benefits thrown in. I am tempted to block book a whole coach and sell the seats on at a tidy profit myself. It is quite frankly amazing that they can do it at those prices. Can anyone offer an explanation? Maybe their drivers only speak Polish? If that is the case then COUNT ME OUT. As these rates, I'm thinking of Greyhound instead of driving. Even if it's difficult to park at Asda, there are other alternatives within easy walking distance. You can't really say the same about parking at either of the two Southampton pick-ups, where the money-grubbing Council have parking restrictions even on a single yellow line on a Sunday. SamKimish Posted 20 February, 2010 Share Posted 20 February, 2010 It is quite frankly amazing that they can do it at those prices. Can anyone offer an explanation? I paid about £4 for coach travel back from London one way so £10 seems very reasonable to me ... especially considering it's a Sunday. As for the service itself, they give you more than enough leg room and comfortable reclining seats. Only downside for me was the complimentary Daily Echo they leave on your seats for the return journey

I'm sure they will still fill their 100 coaches. if they are 50 seater that is 5000 and we should be taking 44000 + up there.

As a mad Crystal Palace fan, I've still not forgiven Southampton for spoiling our Wembley dream in 1976, but I can turn a blind eye for Sunday and really hope you get the right result! Just a quick reminder that the clocks go forward so make sure you adjust your watch/alarm! We'll be heading off at 09:00 and the coaches will be arriving around 15 minutes before hand, so we can get a swift getaway! By the way, we've 1 spare seat left on our 8 coaches that we are running, so please drop me an email at alexwarner@greyhounduk.com if you know anyone interested in taking up the last seat! The price is £20 return. I'll be down at Town Quay on Sunday morning and look forward to seeing those of you boarding there! Bring it on!!!! the saint in winchester Posted 24 March, 2010 Share Posted 24 March, 2010 National Express running buses into London (albeit not Wembley itself) for 1 GBP each way. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As part of its See Your Great Britons promotion, National Express is offering coach fares from London to cities in the Southwest and Wales for £1 each way. The fare is good on journeys between London and Bristol or Cardiff. It's also £1 to travel between London and Birmingham, Leicester, Liverpool and Manchester. We found good availability on all the routes until mid-June, including during Easter weekend. How to book: Click there and select your route, the fare calendar makes it easy to see which dates the £1 fares are available. Be sure to select the Funfare for £1 and remove the insurance when you get to the end of the booking process.
