"Oh when the whites go marching in" sounds great when Fulham sing it. I've always thought it's a bit naff that we've adapted a traditional song to fit in with our clubs' nickname so seeing as it's our 125th anniversary should revery back to the orignial words for the song.

Need some Saints-related lyrics for "The Sash":-

It is old but it is beautiful, and its colours they are fine

It was worn at Derry, Aughrim, Enniskillen and the Boyne.

My father wore it as a youth in bygone days of yore,

And on the Twelfth I love to wear the sash my father wore.

Sure l'm an Solent Southerner , from England's isle I came,

To see my British brethren all of honour and of fame,

And to tell them of my forefathers who fought in days of yore,

That I might have the right to wear, the sash my (Great-great-grand)father's (team) wore!

Chorus:

It is old but it is beautiful, and its colours they are fine

It was worn in Shirley, Hightown, Lower Swanwick and the Warrens.

My (Great-great-grand)father wore it as a youth in bygone days of yore,

And on the Terrace I love to wear the sash my (Great-great-grand)father wore.

Chorus

For those brave men who crossed into Fratton have not fought or died in vain

Our Unity, History, Team, and Colours to maintain,

If the call should come we'll follow the Wagon, and cross that river once more

That tomorrow's Southerners may wear the sash my (Great-great-grand)father wore!

Chorus

And when some day, across the Itchen to So'ton's shore you come,

We'll welcome you in Saints style, to the sound of OWTSGMI

And Lordshill's hills shall echo still, from Bassett to Swanmore

As we sing again the loyal strain of the sash my (Great-great-grand)father wore!

That was easy ;-)

Irony? Sardony? I hope so, cos the original words are of course 'Oh When The Saints'! :D

As for Leeds singing 'Come on you whites' or similar, it's a real shame that many of their fans (and many fans around the country) have forgotten the clubs proper nickname, The Pea****s!

I've never liked that "Alan Pardew's red army" chant, so I for one will be glad not to hear it. Way back in days of yore we used to chant "Lawrie McMenemy's red and white army" and the rhythm of it was just fine, so why doing the same but substituting our current manager's name is apparently so difficult is beyond me. And it would fit with the anniversary kit - which is, after all, red and white.

Okay, I've got the song for Saints black away kit sorted....

Here come the men in black

We know that you'll remember

Here come the men in black

Promoted by december

Here come the men in black

We're all different genders

Here come the men in black

You're all sex offenders!

Agree and have always sang "and white". What about, for one year only, "Alan Pardew's red-sash army!!?"

We have a sash

You're ******* gash

We play in white

You're ******* shyte

etc etc

I think it should be "Come on you Saints", which is what it should be anyway, although "reds" does roll better off the tongue.

If you want leedish saints song with a sash + a bit of skate bashing, I think this is a winner:

For ever and ever,

We'll follow our team,

We are Southampton,

We rule supreme,

We'll never be mastered,

By fish-****ing bastards,

We keep the red sash

Worn with pride

Repeat ad finitum

Bearing in mind the huge deep divisions in Ireland, and the significance of the sash out there, and these words, we should keep a million miles away from it.

Mind you, Liverpool have adapted Fields of Athenry, and no-one complains...... I'll go back to lurking.....
