itchen_dan Posted 30 July, 2010 Share Posted 30 July, 2010 (edited) Echo reporting that Saints aren't getting a bye in the JPT first round this year. Shouldn't hamper our chances that much of retaining it by having to play that 1 extra game http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/8303648.No_JPT_bye_for_Saints/ Now on OS as well http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2106640,00.html Edited 30 July, 2010 by itchen_dan
Saint_clark Posted 30 July, 2010 Share Posted 30 July, 2010 What's the criteria for giving byes then? Seems ridiculous that we got one last year but not this one, despite being the holders.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 30 July, 2010 Share Posted 30 July, 2010 So we get to beat one more team on the way to retaining our trophy then? Fine by me.
trousers Posted 30 July, 2010 Share Posted 30 July, 2010 Does not matter as we'll be concentrating on the league this season. Hopefully....
La BoIS Saint Posted 30 July, 2010 Share Posted 30 July, 2010 This was reported ages ago. If you get a bye one year you can't have one the next. Seems fair.
100%Red&White Posted 30 July, 2010 Share Posted 30 July, 2010 Chuck the kids in. Bigger fish to fry this time.
Marsdinho Posted 30 July, 2010 Share Posted 30 July, 2010 Would be funny if we were drawn with Bournemouth - to beat them 4 times in a season would be FAF.
Iowsaintsfan Posted 30 July, 2010 Share Posted 30 July, 2010 Chuck the kids in. Bigger fish to fry this time. Agreed, kids and fringe players, give them a chance to prove the want / good enough for 1st team football
docker-p Posted 30 July, 2010 Share Posted 30 July, 2010 Thanks to the the ECHO for keeping us up to date with whats going on. If we had to rely on the OS we we would still be in the dark ages
crouchi Posted 30 July, 2010 Share Posted 30 July, 2010 Don't forget the rules say you have to play most of your first choice team - to be honest we were really lucky to get past Torquay on penalties last year. No matter how good you are, cups need a big slice of luck, so another final in the coming season would be a major achievement, and concentrating on the league may be forced on us anyway. paulwantsapint Posted 30 July, 2010 Share Posted 30 July, 2010 JPT needs saints to be drawn at home in all rounds to get record number of fans again after we made up a massive percentage of fans last season

Andy_Porter Posted 30 July, 2010 Share Posted 30 July, 2010 I must be the only one looking forward to the JPT this year. Would be pretty special if we could retain the trophy, hopefully a few away trips along the way - getting the easy St Marys draw every time was a bit dull last season.
