Nigel Adkins interview on now

Was very impressed with the way he answered the 'how long will it take for you to have an affect on the side?'

He answered by saying there is no time to waste, and re-emphasising how crucial promotion was

Talk is cheap. Pardew was saying exactly the same thing last year while we were stuttering our way towards October still without a league win.

Adkins will be forgiven this result; he will not be forgiven a defeat on Saturday. We really, really need a win to get things going but that's going to be very tough, he still won't have had a proper coupls of days on the training ground to really get into the players' heads.

Mmm, said stuff that I've heard a thousand times before. Not that I don't believe he's saying what he feels is right - it's just that there's only so much deja vu one can take.

Someone iterated my fears on the match thread by suggesting AP was the glue that held this team together and I am not convinced that NA is made of the same sticky stuff AP had. And that means he needs to take this team apart and start from scratch when we don't really have enough time for that IF this season is going to be a success.

The deja vu will be complete when we're struggling against the tide come Xmas and NA is replaced because NC's patience runs out (or Reed has a little word in NC's ear).

I know what you are driving at as this was AP's team that he had assembled. By the same token though we are now reaping the rewards of what seems like a poorly prepared squad (pre-season with AP), and a squad that has been depleted of key components last season - Papa & Antonio - who were not replaced.

Not entirely convinced with the preparation thing. Do agree with the bench options though and I also think that the rest of the first team might react in a negative way just to the fact that these guys were not re-signed or replaced - i.e. "where's the ambition gone?".

The most important thing is to give a good performance in the post match interview. NA is a step up from AP, hence the reason he is in the job. In all seriousness it was was an abject 2nd half performance vs MKD, and the real sense of disappointment is accentuated by the pre season hype about " we will walk this league " when in reality we are not mentally even ready to run out of it.
