Asaint4ever Posted 3 November, 2010 Share Posted 3 November, 2010 Southampton are chasing £2.5m-rated Doncaster midfielder Brian stock, 28, after he snubbed a new deal. This source is from the daily star.
Matthew Le God Posted 3 November, 2010 Share Posted 3 November, 2010 (edited) I doubt he'd cost Saints anywhere near £2.5m, with his contract running out in summer 2011, injury problems, nearly 30 etc. Would still be a great signing though! SuperSAINT Posted 3 November, 2010 Share Posted 3 November, 2010 Has he played much this season?
Saint Fan CaM Posted 3 November, 2010 Share Posted 3 November, 2010 Not worth even half that amount IMO. £1m would be a huge amount to pay for this player - £750k absolute tops I would suggest.

Crab Lungs Posted 3 November, 2010 Share Posted 3 November, 2010 £1m would be a very fair price - for us. Adaptable offensively or defensive, a captain for his club side, playing in a league above us? Yes please.
Matthew Le God Posted 3 November, 2010 Share Posted 3 November, 2010 £1m would be a very fair price - for us. Still expensive, as we'd be getting him in January 2011 and his current contract runs out at Donny in June 2011. At which time he'd be available for free. Lighthouse Posted 3 November, 2010 Share Posted 3 November, 2010 £2.5m? Behave, we payed that for Prutton when he was England U-21 captain. £750k - £1m would be somewhere about right, although half that would be reasonable if his contract is up in summer. MrMojoRisin Posted 3 November, 2010 Share Posted 3 November, 2010 100,000 tops. That is all he is worth! We need to be signing better players than that

We need to be signing better players than that He is probably the best player in a mid table team in the League above Saints. I think he'd be great. Dalek2003 Posted 3 November, 2010 Share Posted 3 November, 2010 He was at his best 2 years ago, he missed the boat and so did we. I am sure there are better alternatives. 500k maybe worth a punt, but I would want to know more about the reliability of his fitness.

Matthew Le God Posted 3 November, 2010 Share Posted 3 November, 2010 Interesting. How do Donny supporters rate him ? He is generally regarded as their best player but has had injury problems as you mentioned. Numerous threads about him... http://www.drfc-vsc.co.uk/index.php?option=com_kunena&Itemid=57&func=showcat&catid=999999 The Doncaster Rovers FM researcher rates him as their best player and has done for a few years. derry Posted 4 November, 2010 Share Posted 4 November, 2010 Brian Howard would be a much better bet. Lives at Bartley. Having said that, as Stocks is keen to join Saints and is out of contract in July 2011, we could either sign him for a fee around £200k in January, or get him for nothing in July hopefully ready for the Championship next season. Brian Howard only signed a 3 year contract last summer and would be expensive but he has said that he would like to finish his career at SMS. From our point of view Stocks is much more likely.
