And with two games against Charlton to play the Bradley rubbishers may have to eat their words (or not) -especially if he is the difference between Charlton or us being promoted.

Significantly, our rivals are doing something about improving their squads, but we are not (yet). Hurry up, Nicola.

Hardly "new" faces though!

Well they are, because if Guly and Chaplow had not signed then we wouldn't have them from January to May of the League One season. Had Lallana not signed an extention he may have been sold in order to get a larger fee than letting him go at the end of his contract in the summer.

Stop being so pedantic. People are not idiots and realise that. Surely you understand the point Duncan is making?

I don't to be honest, when used in reference with the first two posts in this thread.

I see what you mean, but I think signing Lallana, Guly and Chaplow has just sustained our squad based on how all the teams have got the points they now have. Had we lost them, we would have weakened our squad. And Charlton has strengthened based on the team that got them their points (assuming they haven't lost someone significant).

Are you incapable of posting without having to react to something Matthew Le God posts? Give it a rest man.

As for BWP... not too bothered, he scored some good goals for us so I don't think he was totally useless for us. He'll definitely score at SMS.

I think I have reacted to three separate points since yesterday. Hardly constant and if he stopped doing it then I wouldn't be replying would I.

I wasn't saying it to state the obvious, I was saying it because I disagreed that Guly and Chaplow weren't new signings like Duncan said. This is a forum for discussion after all isn't it? They are new signings because until they were signed permanently, they weren't going to play for Saints for the rest of the season. Yes that is obvious, but some seem to think we haven't spent in the window or strengthened. Signing Guly and Chaplow are improvements to the squad because until they are adtional to what the squad would have been if they left at the end of their loans.

What he meant was they weren't 'new' signings in the sense that they have played for us for quite a few games previously and thus won't be adding anything extra to the squad other than what has already been there previously.

I would have thought that was really obvious but clearly not for some.

But they are adding extra, as Chaplow wasn't going to play for Saints after Jan 1st and Guly after Jan 23rd. So that makes them extra on top of what Saints were going to have at their disposal before their signing full time. I think we are just both attacking this point from different ends and should leave it there.

I give up.

Also, why is it now no-one is allowed to not rate a player? There's always someone to cry about scapegoating or picking on a player. It's opinion ffs. BWP was dreadful IMO. Inconsistent, snatches at chances, offside most the time, little effort. A few goals in L1 for 2 or 3 months doesn't change much.

That was then. Now BWP is a different, better and a more mature player. And he is hitting the net consistently. I would love him to be as bad when he plays against us as he was here. But I have a horrible feeling he is going to prove his detractors here wrong. And although I couldn't care less who hates him, I do care that we beat Charlton.

He missed a peno and Charlton lost 1 nil.
