who knows the answer.......could say yes..could easily be no..

Not difficult to answer really, can this now be classed as adkins' sqaud.

I say after 11pm,yes.

He may well have been rebuffed by clubs/players when approached but thats is his job to seek improvements in the sqaud and source replacements.

I would say 'not yet'. We're part of the way there but January windows don't solve many problems and it'll take another season or two for the players that NA doesn't fancy to dribble away. This is all part of the problem when you keep changing managers. Did I hear during ITV's commentary that in the 23 years that Alex Ferguson has beeb in charge we have had 21 managers?

He has been through a transfer window now, so yes it's his squad. Players would have been leaving and joining like nobodies business if he thought we needed it. But he has kept what he wanted, added a few new players to the squad in positions we all said we were weak in and now has the rest of the season to make it work.

So yes, it's his squad, IMO.

I think that we should all agree that this is saint lard's squad and all Saints fans should hold him responsible if it all goes wrong. We should chase him out of town with pitchforks and burning torches, and eventually hang him from a tree in the New Forest. It's only fair.

The curse of menstration.

Others have managed to answer the legitimate question.

I have honestly never seen anyone excuse a defeat with "this is Pardews team, not Adkins".

Particularly not Nigel himself. He has never said that this is not his squad so I suggest it is his squad and he is doing a very good job with it too. Every confidence in him.

I take it you forgot the smiley winky thing at the end of your post.

Umpteen times the "but this is not Adkins' squad" has been wheeled out.

Not just after a defeat but in run of the mill debating that sometimes, and i mean sometimes, goes on,on here.

I, too, have never seen it used as an excuse and refuse to believe that it has been used "umpteen times" (which is also a conveniently ambiguous number). Unless links are provided to a number of citations, I think this thread should be locked.

Nope, I have genuinely never seen anyone mention it. Until you find posts proving your point there's not really any point continuing this discussion.

Or will we still be using this as a get out when/if things don't go to plan.

Be it plan A, or B...if we have one.

Wtf are you talking about? Players like playing for adkins, lambert said it, lallana showed it by signing new deal. We're in a decent position in the league, everything is still to play for plus we've retained and added to our squad. What's the problem?

After the summer it will be Adkins squad, fingers crossed in the Championship with nearly a whole season to assess his players and see what is needed to compete at the next level.

As previously mentioned, not much is sorted in January transfer windows. We have done well to secure the services of two of our best players and possibly address the short term problem of a lack of pace and options out wide and up front.

Well this is his squad now, and one that has to get out of this league this season. NA and NC must think the squad is good enough to get out of the league, and I have to admit it should be, and we have proved this up until the last couple of weeks. IF we do not gain promotion be it on his head! Please Saints go up, as I think we have a very promising youngish manager.

How on earth can you say it is Adkins squad when all he has had in charge is 4 or 5 months and a January f*****g transfer window!? The January window is notoriously difficult. Nobody wants to make major changes during this window, either incoming or out. The only time we see this is when pathetic money is thrown about, i.e Carroll.

My september this year, we will have more of an idea as to what "Adkins squad" will be, but even then it won't be complete. Some complete and utter nonsense is dished out on this forum.

I really don't see that it matters. If you want to analyse the whole squad and work out who was here already, who Adkins brought in, who he wants to keep, who he is thinking of releasing later etc, then go for it. Ultimately, Adkins has now had a solid period of time to work with the squad and make some changes. He's made his mark, we've seen that in a number of excellent performances, but equally we know that we don't yet have the consistent level of performance we would like and there have been (and will be yet more) poor performances. But then again, it is League 1, and consistency is not exactly commonplace at this level.

If things don't go to plan, there is no 'get out' as mentioned in the OP. Blame and excuses are pointless. All that matters is that Adkins and the squad continuously work hard to achieve our aim of promotion no matter what the last result or performance was, good or bad. A bit of faith and support from fans would help that, and thankfully I think most recognise that.

The fact is that good managers and good players can do well regardless of whether the players were signed by the current manager. No, he didn't sign the majority of them. Does that mean he's going to sell them all and bring in his own people in the summer? I highly, highly doubt it.
