Since our last promotion

Everyone just has to believe and hold their nerve in every game

Wish I was same age, trips to Luton, Fulham and Orient were special days

I wasn't around for our last promotion campaign, another reason I need to get to as many away games as possible this season before I finally leave the country for good. Can't afford to miss Saints games now, these could be ones we remember forever. COYF**KINGR

Some of my happiest days as a Saints Fan ... hope you guys have as much fun, although due to the logistics nowadays don't suppose there will be up to 10000 Saints fans at any of our remaining away fixtures :(

shamewe are not able to aktake the same numbers to away games now as we did for those three games 8,000 at Fulham on a Friday night, 10,000 at Luton and 12,000 at Orient on a tuesday night.

Those certainly were days to remember

My Dad was at Orient for Promotion in 1965/66, I was at all of those three games mentioned above, and my lad will be at Rochdale and Plymouth and hopefully will complete a family treble of seeing Saints gettting promoted

We will easily sell out all our remaining away games apart from Rochdale, but hopefully we can get at least 1,500 up there as it's in the easter school holiday

Manchester united, Arsenal, liverpool , Everton are longer

Arsenal were last promoted when the football league was resumed after the first world war 1919/20. The previous season, 1914/15, they had finished 5th in the 2nd division behind Derby, Preston, Barnsley and Wolves yet were still promoted in front of Barnsley and Wolves, who had finished higher.

I assume some sort of dirty dealing went on behind the scenes. They've always been a cheating bunch of barstewards.

I went to all the away games that season, except for Luton and Orient in the last week as I was on a field trip from Uni in North Wales. I had to ring up from a red call box to find out the Orient score, then ran back in the pouring rain to the Pub to celebrate, happy days!!

Got our tickets for the Leyton game today.

Roll on April 9th, nipper's first away game.

Mental note to self * It's not like '78 ESB, you're older and have a precious cargo with you.

Always had to remember that when my 2 were growing up, Andy, good news is there 23 and 16 now so can look after old man.

I remember both Luton & Orient games - went o a coach out of the old Saints Supporters Social Club on both trips. Both coahes had windows put in...Luton wasn't particularly nice - but Orient was great with Tony Funnel equalising making sure we went up! Quite right a wall did collapse at the ned trying to hold back the 10,000 trying to get on the pitch.

Spurs fans did a runner - and we had to spend the evening in a pub by some barracks waiting for a replacement coach - great times!

Always makes me chuckle that as long as there was a pub we would put up with any inconvience, suppose we were the generation which meant alchol on coaches was eventually banned.

My boys struggle to believe we took 10000 to those games and that you all paid on the turnstiles

Yes it is well known the Arsenal chairman at the time stitched a few people, went back on his word and jumped into the top league over others.

19 years old and 3 of the best games I have ever attended, Orient was brilliant, we were crammed in so tight, getting to the back of the terrace for a beer was a nightmare as every step you made you ran into someone else you know. Went to work the next day only to find out one of the lads at work had broke his leg when the wall collapsed. When the final whistle went the crowd went beserk. Happy Days

No colours as we went in the home end in twos and threes.

That was a great season to be a Saints fan. Went to most of the games already mentioned and the highlight for me was winning at Luton with a dodgy last minute penalty that put us top with 2 games to go. Some bloke ran on the pitch and kissed the penalty spot at the final whistle and I think we all knew then it was going to be our season.

Also really enjoyed the Charlton game where we won 3-1; sweet revenge for the tonkings they'd given us the two previous seasons.

Another 3-1 for us tonight would be perfect ...

I remember the Orient game, ****ing brilliant night. I also remember a Luton game, but not sure it was the same season - was it just after the Millwall riot (at Luton) and we were kept in and pelted with bottles and stones that rained in from above the fencing? My memories of Luton was the worst possible place I have ever visited, and I have kept that memory to this day - evil **** hole.
