I would like to extend my warmest welcome to new signing in Dale Stephens and would like to wish him all the best and Good Luck for him down here and my Mate whose an Oldham fan told me that he is a Good player and fingers crossed he will live up to that!

The main thing I wanted to ask and discuss are these points:

1). Where Will Dale Stephens Play?

2). Will Adkins Drop Either Hammond Or Chaplow For Stephens?

Thoughts!?!

Thanks!

COYR :D!!

Ben Stop Using So Many Capital Letters It Is Doing My Head In and Use Some Punctuation Too!

Pedant ;)

It depends whether NA sees Dale Stephens as a temporary signing or a permanent one imo. If the idea is to get him on loan then sign him up permanently next season I imagine he'll be odds on for the starting lineup, if he's been brought in as cover then more likely on the bench. Be interesting to see him on saturday if he plays.

Could mean a new formation

Davis

Butterfield Fonte Jaidi Harding

Hammond

Stephens Chaplow

Lambert

Forte Barnard

Allowing Lallana & oxo to recover

That isn't a new formation, Saints have been using it for a few months now and switch tactics between that and 442 throughout games.

Guly is probably ahead of Forte for a starting role and would play behind Lambert and Barnard in such a system.

Think he will be on the bench for Saturday and will be used as 2nd half sub probably for Chappers. The threat of a 2 game suspension still hangs over both Chappers and Hammond so a back up role for the moment beckons, if either get a lay off then he will be straight in.

Will they attempt the manage the next booking to miss certain games?

According to the Oldham fan who posted on here Stephens is a Steven Gerrard type, so he'd be more likely to replace Chaplow not Hammond. I wouldn't be surprised to see him rotated in to keep the yellow cards to a minimum before the second weekend of April when the suspension deadline for 10 yellows passes, and by then we'll have seen enough of him to know whether he's a starter or stays as cover.

Chaplow will definitely react well, he looks like he likes a challenge...

Sounds like a silly idea as they'd need to be adding at least one booking each (I think Chaplow's on 7 and Hammond 8) to get to 9 to even be in a position to get suspended "when they want", and the suspension is more than just one match so any "deliberate" yellow getting is a stupid idea.

The latest they can get suspended for yellows is Leyton Orient on 9th, the deadline is 10th. We have MK Dons and Charlton before that, so 3 games left for them not to pick up (at least) 2 yellows.

That deadline means they CAN'T miss the Brighton game due to yellow card suspension, as we play Rochdale and Bristol Rovers first and those matches are the latest the suspension can apply. They could of course get sent off...
