SamKimish Posted 20 July, 2011 Share Posted 20 July, 2011 So it looks like Leeds will be without Luciano Becchio and Davide Somma for our season opener ... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14214052.stm Would be nice to get the season off to a winning start and things would certainly be a lot easier if they are without two of their best strikers. S-Clarke Posted 20 July, 2011 Share Posted 20 July, 2011 That's a bonus, although Ross Mcormack is pretty handy himself.
Saint Posted 20 July, 2011 Share Posted 20 July, 2011 I reckon it will be a draw anyway. Last time we played them at home it was the most frustrating match I'd ever watched. We took a fairly early lead and had to hold on for the whole game. Also, we had one disallowed for no good reason and Leeds really lived up to their dirty reputation. Not to mention a **** and seemingly biased ref.

Don't forget to mention the 'performance' from Peter ****ing Walton, by far the most clueless ref I've seen at SMS.

1976_Child Posted 20 July, 2011 Share Posted 20 July, 2011 0-0 then if it is 0-0 I'm handing my ST back. I want to be entertained this season. And I want decent frickin pasties as well. And soft white hand paper towels in the bogs, not those cheap rough blue ones that are abrasive on the skin.
Victor Posted 20 July, 2011 Share Posted 20 July, 2011 Just hope we don't' go 3 up in the first half.
Hamilton Saint Posted 20 July, 2011 Share Posted 20 July, 2011 Just did some quick research. On the opening day of the last 18 seasons we have won only once (Coventry away in 1999-2000); we drew 8 times; and we lost 9 times. We were at home 11 times and away 7 times. FWIW - well, that does explain why I never expect us to win the first game of the season!
jamesfp1 Posted 20 July, 2011 Share Posted 20 July, 2011 for some reason i remember our last 10 openers being 1-

It was a good game - guess you don't go to many games and used to seeing 10 mins condensed highlights?
Cricketphilly Posted 21 July, 2011 Share Posted 21 July, 2011 I hasd the misfortune to attend Leeds V Reading at the end of last season. Two **** poor sides.
Saint Garrett Posted 21 July, 2011 Share Posted 21 July, 2011 Surely Leeds will bring in someone else if Somma is long term? I was at that Coventry game - great day out !
Seany S Posted 21 July, 2011 Share Posted 21 July, 2011 I heard on the radio yesterday that Gradel may be on his way, with Swansea and a French team apparently interested. Lets hope that he gets flogged before the season kicks off, he would be a goal threat for Leeds. Sure someone was linked with Snodgrass as well.
