Roo1976 Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 Quite simple is there one because we seem to be in the market at the moment for being linked with a few african players and if they leave for the cup that would place a big hole in the deepth of our squad
Matthew Le God Posted 10 July, 2013 Posted 10 July, 2013 Next one is in 2015 and Kenya rarely make the finals.
Roo1976 Posted 10 July, 2013 Author Posted 10 July, 2013 cheers by the way when i asked the question i didnt realise that there is a world cup next year so there wont be an african cup
The9 Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 cheers by the way when i asked the question i didnt realise that there is a world cup next year so there wont be an african cup You also didn't seem to be aware of other bits of the internet you could use which would help you find out for yourself. As for "there is a world cup next year so there wont be an african cup" comment, there was an ACoN in 2010, 2006, 2002, 1998, 1994, 1990, 1986, 1982, 1978, 1974, 1970 and 1962. That's every World Cup year except one since the ACoN began, so even though you are right because they shifted the competition to odd-numbered years this year (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/africa/8685251.stm), you wouldn't have known that from past experience of World Cups, because until now it has almost always coincided with a World Cup year.
The9 Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 Oh yeah, and for the massively pedantic (ie. me and MLG), the answer is yes. There is an African Cup of Nations this year because there's already been one in 2013.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 11 July, 2013 Posted 11 July, 2013 Next one is in 2015 and Kenya rarely make the finals. Bit harsh MLG

JohnnyShearer2.0 Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago (edited) I wonder if FIFA would do that if a country like Argentina did the shit that Senegal did. Edited 12 hours ago by JohnnyShearer2.0

Badger Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Ridiculous that a team walking off the pitch causing a 17 minute delay could just resume the match. At the time I thought the ref should have abandoned the match, and Senegal forfeit it. Right decision to strip them of the result. 2
disconnect Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Didn't Senegal only walk off the pitch because of how corrupt the whole tournament was to try and get Morocco to win it? In the final (and through other rounds) the Morocco subs were constantly pushing the Senegal keeper, taking his towel and water bottle etc. Then a really dodgy disallowed goal for Senegal and a really soft penalty to try to get Morocco to win. I think most neutrals would've loved Senegal to win. I know the rules are there for forfeiting the game, but it should've been enforced at the time, not months later. This whole thing just makes African football seem like a joke, after so many years of them building their reputation. 2
hypochondriac Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago If I were Morocco I'd not want to win a victory on paper like that. What benefit is there to them? Will they now sue the federation for loss of earnings and mental anguish? 2
