Every 1st team player at Farnborough FC has changed their name legally by deed poll to the name of a legendary footballer in their position. Farnborough FC's new names have been submitted to the league – they will be legally known as Pele etc & this will be on back of their shirts. Additionally the manager of Farnborough FC, formerly known as Spencer Day, has changed his name to that of the 'Special One' Jose Mourinho.

Not the first time Spencer Day's changed his name by deed poll - he was previously known as Spencer Trethewy, who was responsible for the original Aldershot going bust in 1992.

Also, you'll be surprised to discover that the sponsor is Paddy Power.

According to the @nonleagueshow another non league club turned down the legends names stunt on grounds of credibility. #farnboroughFC

Playing as them on football manager will be amazing.

My exact thoughts when I saw this too!

Went and saw Farnborough play a few times when I was at college there, they have a decent little team. Met Aaron/Daryl McLean's dad there, who gave me the firmest handshake i've ever experienced. Daryl was a trialist for Farnborough in a friendly against us (having been released by us about 2 months previously), but made no impact. That game will forever be remembered in my mind for Jake Thomson scoring from the halfway line, and also for Marek Saganowski - a supposed "international striker" at that point - being given an utter tonking by a Conference South defence.
