Thedelldays Posted 23 December, 2008 Share Posted 23 December, 2008 I have been open minded about lowes return and what he is clearly trying to do about the finances...and so far have given him the benefit of the doubt.. but reading what went on today (yes, just reading and I dont claim to have all the facts) I have to say, I think it is time for him to go... it seems crouch/lawrie duo would have done nothing but gain more support today...if it is true what they did and got a good chunk of the AGM to walk out...then, seriously, rupert MUST be on borrowed time.. he is not stupid and im sure he knows it... add all the to the (obvious) disaster that is Jan Poortvliet...ntot even his staunchest defenders on here can bring themselves to do so with any credibility any more...he is clearly out of his depth it is embarassing and I really feel sorry for him...He is clearly a decent bloke with all the right intentions but SHOULD NOT have been brought in for us... lowe cannot hide the blame for jan...not this time. What I am trying to say is that I gave lowe the benefit of the doubt and now have accepted his time is up (again) and whilst he is here, there is no way the club can move on from where we are....no way is there any other 'fence sitters' like me who have made a choice..? Andy_Porter Posted 23 December, 2008 Share Posted 23 December, 2008 I'm not really sure how bad the financial position is and how much of that was down to Crouch and his time as Chairman but I really don't think we will ever be going in the right direction with Lowe in charge. Lots of fans will always be anti Lowe and as a club we will never be united. Crouch/Lawrie would be a far better option imo. Would be brilliant if they had the money to get rid of Lowe completely. I would rather he stepped down and let someone else have a bash...by all means, hand over what he is doing etc but he cannt remain in charge as after today, more and more people will just turn their backs from the club... Gemmel Posted 23 December, 2008 Share Posted 23 December, 2008 and whilst he is here, there is no way the club can move on from where we are....no way That's it in a nutshell. Whatever your thoughts or opinions of him are, we are now (And probably have been for some time) in a situation where it is impossible to move forward. And for what its worth, for all his blustering, surely rupert knows that as well. It's whether he can make a rational business decision, in the best interests of the club and not his ego. stevegrant Posted 23 December, 2008 Share Posted 23 December, 2008 jesus...what a farking state.. Yep. I'm trying to write a report/opinion piece for the main site about it, but keep having to start again because, for once, I'm really struggling to put across how I'm feeling about it all, because it's just all such a complete mess. Andy_Porter Posted 23 December, 2008 Share Posted 23 December, 2008 14,500~ seems about the norm atm, only going to keep dropping unless we can pick up some sort of form.
NickG Posted 23 December, 2008 Share Posted 23 December, 2008 wouldn't it be great for them all to go, not aiming high but someone with just enough money to 1) stabilise the club 2) appoint a new top chief exec/chairman perhaps with experience of another club then disappear into the background. Having said that thought Wilde was bringing most of that!
St Marco Posted 23 December, 2008 Share Posted 23 December, 2008 Would rather have people who actually care about the club running it then those who dont. Plus add to that Crouch is actually a far better businessman then Lowe. He is one of the souths main earners, in fact he is the highest earner this year. Where as Lowe and Wilde are nothings. In fact Wilde will most likely have to sell his shares eventually due to the fact his company is in big time trouble. But that is just my opinion. I dont blame Crouch nor LM for what has happened at the club. We were in the prem league for so long that it just defies belief that when we went down we were left with next to nothing. I see that as our major failure. Not Crouch's 4 month tenure where he signed nobody.

I am told the gates are closer to 12 with many season ticket holders counted but not at the game..This will be the same for most home games. My lucky guess for the United game is 31,000...Not a bad guess really. Mind you if we beat United we might get a few 20,000 + gates to help the cause. EastleighSoulBoy Posted 23 December, 2008 Share Posted 23 December, 2008 Doubt if we will get many gates of 15k now other than the game against the Mancs I think you're right. In fact I think that after the next three league games, if we come away with a derisory points haul (2 or 3), then the attendances will start to spiral downwards at an alarming rate. Give it to Ron Posted 23 December, 2008 Share Posted 23 December, 2008 As a season ticket holder I have on numerous occasions this season not wanted to go. 2 of my kids have season tickets and they just can't be bothered anymore. I have not got Man UTD tickets for the cup next month. in fact I doubt I will be getting a season ticket next year either. Exactly what I posted the other day - Saturday was the last straw for me. Today comes as no surprise at the complete arrogance of the man. I am amazed people didn't see this coming given the number of occasions this has happened in private to loyal supporters who have challenged him in the past. I think the actions of Crouch today was a farce I was told many years ago by a well respected high level union man that as soon as you walk out of any meeting you have lost. Today the club lost any last respect and credibility it had left and is dead on its feet - shame and an end of 40 years of my support.

hamster Posted 24 December, 2008 Share Posted 24 December, 2008 So, are protests inevitable now? Or will fans give them the next couple of games grace, to see if we can actually pull away? If we do drop into the relegation zone, then I would have thought that a mass walk-out at half-time versus Man U would have been fairly effective, or maybe after the firth goal? That pitch invasion was fun at the end of last season, wasn't it ;-)

Same as me Both lads have had season tickets since we have been at SMS, eldest had one at the Dell. The youngest , 14, cannot be bothered most weeks, it is not cool, apparently to be a Saints fan. The eldest is at Uni but comes home for home games in the past but has missed at least 4 games this season. Worst thing is they both did not want to go to Plymouth boxing day.
