what happened to "Surman and Lallana off as soon as window opens"

Large numbers of posters on here were apparently certain that Surman and Lallana were off as soon as the transfer window opened. There were even claims back as early as november that Lallana had actually *already* been sold ..to spurs I think it was. That was in addition to the "he's going to Fuiham in exchange for Baird" statements.

Anyone want to eat their words?

Of course either or both may still go before the window closes, but it is clear that those confident claims of done deals were rubbish, or they'd have gone by now.

Frankly the reality is bad enough without doomsayers making things seem worse than they are.

I dont recall the quote being made by anybody.

Plenty reckon (and still do) that they will be gone by the time the window closes (considering how Lowe tends to do these things), still think so, and have said so.

Maybe you should get your facts right before starting piissing contests.

Any eating of words should surely happen after the window shuts, no? It's 14th of January, FFS. I personally think Lallana will be sold and we'll keep hold of Surman. And I reckon Lowe will drag it out so that we have no chance to spend whatever we get for him on essential buys like a striker, or even paying off our pretty clueless manager.

Possibly a correct assumption.

Its a little sad when we see start almost wanting crap to happen to score points off each other though is it not?

There are afterall only three factors which will influence whether lallana or Surman will go, in no particular order:

1. Someone makes a bid

2. We are desperate for the money

3. The players themselves demand a move

Strangely, I believe these factors would still be there whoever was in the boardroom...

whoever is in the boardroom and also for every club in the world, to some degree -just the bigger the club the less teams can tempt your players with bigger salaries, staus and transfer fees.

and of course, you did ?

So why didnt you quote a person directly, then, or provide a link ?

I have been using my memory for a long time before the "search the forum" facility or indeed internet forum was available. As such I do not require the geekoid machine to do all for me. I also remember the links being made by some posters to Spurs etc and it being a done deal.

If you struggle with the old grey matter then perhaps you should take his advise and do a quick search before gobbing off, while leaving those of us with a brain to simply remember stuff.

Well you have a very poor memory, then.

This thread is title with a QUOTE, and a done deal with Spurs does not necessarily mean immediately the window opens. Maybe Spurs want to save a months wages too ?

Also, both have suffered minor INJURIES

Good advice for yourself, as I doubt you went back and checked everyone elses comments on the subject before telling him to get his facts right, DID YOU??

Several said they'd both be off as soon as the window opened, a few claimed inside knowledge on done deals, Fulham, Stoke and Spurs were mentioned. I was led to believe by some that Surman to Stoke and Lallana to Fulham were all but done and would go through in the first few days of the window.

Why is it incumbent on me to check ? I didnt start the sneering piissing contest thread

Oh I see. You should have just said you were now climbing down from your initial gobbing off and were now prepared to play the splitting hairs game.

So, in your book "splitting hairs" is about not being able to give the precise date and time in Greenwich Mean Time as to when the deal will be registered by the FA or revealed in the Daily Echo ?

Riiiiightyho.....

Because you didn't have to reply instantly in that tone. He made a valid point, that many on here claim inside knowledge without having it and just seek to spread more gloom and doom. Some just to back up their opinions on Lowe etc. It's not helping anyone.

Disagree with him by all means, but it doesn't need attacks for supposedly not checking facts. If you didn't say they were done deals, then it wasn't directed at you anyway, why get so annoyed? Was a fairly simple point. Surely you can see what it looks like to other people? It seems as if you want these players to go, you want the team to suffer and you want us to lose so you can sit back and say, look, I was right all along. It's not just you, I have no doubt many are like that while Lowe is in charge. If they were given a hypothetical choice of saints suddenly doing well, but under Lowe, they'd be many who'd struggle to take it as they just couldn't handle being wrong. But we're all wrong sometimes.

Simple point was, the situation at Saints is miserable enough without people making up "inside knowledge" to further compound gloom and doom.

Certainly spoke for me there to be honest, although I would have called him a co(klunch to be fair.

So you're still pretending you don't understand the point?

It was said the deals were done and would be completed when the window opened. It's the 14th now. Yes, it's possible they might still leave, but the deals clearly weren't done. Both have said they're staying since anyway.

I'd put money on both being here come February. 10 english pounds anyone? (not you Rupert).

How do you know they are not done ?

so you dont object to the tone, but to the factual content.

Make your bloody mind up..

The Lowey group out in force again, You really are a sad bunch in my opinion.

Football supporters of Saints..really.

You don't have to be a Lowe supporter to opt to use your brain and just not swallow every little story that is made up about him, like some.

Did you know that the Russians never did actually eat their babies in theend? It was just made up nonsense.

Everybody gather round......I have something to inform you about....

TSW approach to sneering and being "Mr. Right" - apparently its OK so long as it favours Lowe or the club management.

To be more than fair, there is a whole lot of it from the Lowe haters. What you are plainly not liking is the FACT the a load of anti Lowe hype hasn't actually been true.

Disgraceful people.

Just to qualify and save you losing your house, presumably you mean by 'February' 'February 2009' and by 'here' presumably not 'East London?'

I think it is called having an opinion. Are you against that now too? The disgrace is in your blinkered outlook because you want a lot of fans who are still swaying in whether to get behind him or not. You calling fellow posters a disgrace for not having your opinion is the disgrace. Feel the irony!

Your "statements" are not facts but the very fact you come across thinking they should be immediatly makes you come across as not credible or worthy of debate.

if it makes you feel better i will eat my words at the end of the loan transfer deadline.

i did state that surman was staying and lallana was going, but if im wrong,im wrong,i can only pass on what i get told, sometimes i dont even do that as some the info i get isnt worthy of a mention.

i have found that the nature of inside info is either red hot or just plain ******,just like the media/tabloids they sometimes get caught out, just ask some of the posters on here, past and present who got sucked in by the whole 'takeover' thing.

relax and decide on an individual basis what you wish to believe, without the gossip and itk's this forum would be like a deaf and dumb convention in a library.............very quiet.

Sorry to interupt the pizzing competition, but out of interest am I the only one who's noticed that actually there haven't been THAT many transfer deals concluded yet?

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/feature/index?id=599010&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab3pos3&cc=4716

So as we aren't actually half-way through yet perhaps time to keep the I'm always more right than everyone else stuff on the bench so that it has a bit more impact at the right time.

personally, I'm in the we ain't got a a say in matters anyway camp, some bloke in Reading at Barclays will decide what and who we keep or sell. after all, if Man C need 100 mil off Abu Dhabi for a pile of kaka then Abu Dhabi just need to tell Barclays to reduce the overdrafts of ALL of their football accounts - that gets the cash AND screws the competition....

Now THAT's a more fun conspiracy theory to while away the waiting time until the window shuts!

Indeed...it's getting worse on here lately with the Lowe Mafia showing no consideration for anyone's opinions other than their own...say something they don't agree with, and, one by one they appear...

Hmmm...who does that sound like to you Ottery????

me, me, me, ( and Lowey, of course) according to her indoors...I was hoping 2009 would a bit more freindly. I even sent Lowey a xmas card. No reply, of course. To be fair, the club sent my two girls, (supporters of Surman and Lallana...another story later.) a few nice presents which we have passed onto the grandchildren. I think the girls were hoping for Surman and Lallana on a free transfer with me paying their wages.

To be fair to The Lowey group I shouldn't wind them up..I don't mean to..will have to try harder to make freinds and influence people.

Ahhhhh. Poor Roopey.....

*cue violins*

LOL at the contradiction in this post. It was just an excuse, but you expect to happen anyway..

I don't expect it to happen, but I "wouldn't be too surprised" if it did happen (as was my actual quote). If any players get sold I won't be surprised because of the financial situation, but I don't necessarily expect any to be sold.

The point is that lots of people were saying it was inevitable they would be sold because the tyrant Rupert Lowe wants to line his pockets and doesnt give a **** about Saints etc etc when it now seems that might not be the case.

Go on admit it, you acually want them to be sold to justify your vehement anti-lowe stance.

I think they will both still be gone to be honest. Have over 2 weeks to go and we all know what Lowe is like. The question becomes has anyone actually bid for them or have we had bids that have been rejected? If nobody has bid for them not quite sure you can praise Lowe for not selling them...

It really isn't your view that Lowe must go that annoys me. That's your opinion and you are entitled to it. What annoys me is that you consider anyone that doesn't share your views as having an illness. I am actually of the opinion that there currently isn't an alternative to him being in charge as the rest just don't try anything to get us out the crap. If there was a buy out I would be chuffed to bits.

Surely the "Done deal" clubs have already done their bidding?
