You’re right, but on a different note how long will it be before we see some copycat incidents of pupil/student unrest in the UK ?

Seeing it on the news, it seems inevitable that some bastard will think that looks a good way of expressing some sentiment or other.

Mindless violence - the French have always done this though, when they protest they really go for it.

Except they never burned down the 18th century historic buildings.

I wonder what’s changed 🧐

And they have, by the way, a number of times. 2005 was a big year for burning historic public buildings for instance. I would suggest spending some time reading and learning about civil unrest in France.

Ours aren't bright enough or have the same motivation.

Its true, my son's primary school asked parents for a small donation to help with stationery, etc.

Bit pissed as surely that should be provided as a given, but couldn't be arsed to form a protest to smash up the school like the French do :D

The most we'd be able to muster is probably a snapped crayon.

You honestly believe it’s students doing this? LOL

I can’t believe how gullible people are

It’s might have started as students, but it’s the usual suspects just causing chaos now, only got to look at all the Palestine flags being waved to get an idea of of what it’s really about.

Will only further the support for Marine Le Pen ahead of the elections.

From a person I know well ;

The DWP received the paperwork for the renewal of their child's DLA claim on July 16th, the award needs renewing from October 24th.

As of this morning the case has yet to be assessed.

If the DWP is as under-resourced and over-stretched as the rest of the public sector then this comes as no surprise whatsoever.

Back in the UK, looks like non-welfare recipients very much profiting from the housing benefits system https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cm62y80yxw9vo

Thanks for posting. I heard some of the programme around it yesterday. The part I heard had a number of people essentially trapped. The moment they do anything, like Brian in the article, they lose the support. They're then liable for rents that make working very counter-productive. They can't move elsewhere, because the money going to them goes to their support landlords. They have no savings to get a deposit elsewhere. And not working makes that very difficult anyway.

The whole thing is something I'd have thought a Burnham government would be interested in sorting. I hope so.

All those billionaires need somewhere to park up once they've deserted the UK.

But surely it makes it easier to park your superyacht in UK marinas.

Labour doing well on crime, it seems.

Turns out Farage, Lowe etc. are fact-free, rabble-rousing, racist pricks. Who would have thought?!

we can all cherry pick data. He doesn’t mention:

‪Fraud up 11%‬
‪Hate crime up 7%‬
‪Cybercrime up 23%‬
‪Domestic abuse up 23%‬
‪Sexual offences up 24% ‬
‪Rape up 30%‬

Also the data is massively skewed by lack of policing and general societal decay:

Burning down historical sites - always something worth celebrating.

Guessing you were too busy burning down Paris last night with your pals to help put the fires out

Where was it celebrated?

I was merely expressing my delight that you wouldn't be seriously injured.

He's just making stuff up again.

I advised him last week to take some time off due to him getting properly destroyed day after day, and it looks like he took my advice.

Unfortunately, he's come back and he's getting destroyed, again, on various threads. I guess if your IQ is that low, no amount of time-off is going to help you look less stupid.

Quote

More than 300 people have been arrested during a protest supporting the banned Palestine Action group outside the US embassy, police have said.

Hundreds of people gathered at Nine Elms in London on Saturday, with many holding signs reading phrases such as: "I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action."

The Metropolitan Police said on Sunday that 325 arrests were made. The force added on social media that 320 of them were for "expressing support for a proscribed organisation under the Terrorism Act".

Largely peaceful protest then.

320 arrests for holding up pieces of cardboard.

Stupid thing to do in deliberately inviting the Police response by flouting the Law; "I oppose genocide" gets the message across, adding the second part is being purposely bloody minded. However, it's also a bloody stupid piece of legislation when cardboard signs are deemed "support for terrorism".

I'm sure those arrested will be posting their outrage and protesting their innocence on their SM accounts.

14 year old lad handed himself in tonight presumably with input from his family. Vile behaviour, I’d ban him for this season, maybe next too, but a parallel course of education and voluntary service along with his year 10 and 11 formal education, hope he shows respect for what happens going forward. At least the national outcry and appeal from Coventry for information to identify him wiped the shit eating grin off his face.

The Wednesday fan who did it in 2023 got a 12-week suspended prison sentence and 5-year banning order but he’s an adult so quite different. As were the SFC arseholes in the Itchen North doing the planes at Cardiff fans, they got hefty sentences IIRC. Hopefully the lad shows genuine contrition and never does anything like it again. Would guess 2 year stadiums ban and letter of apology to the Lowery family + education course run by the club.

Don’t remember Chandlers Ford being on a par with Middlesbrough for violence https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c6n4ed1l2pn1o

You know it’s bad when it makes national news. Don’t know how many more people have to fall victim to knife crime until something serious gets done about it. Little cowardly cunts carrying knives thinking they’re some fucking bad man listening to their grime shit with little or no fear for the repercussions of their actions. Prisons are full so there’s no deterrent but possession should equal an immediate custodial sentence of 12 months.

Up this way, there was a knife amnesty which resulted in a huge Angel statue being shown outside Gloucester Cathedral because there were so very many handed in https://gloucestercathedral.org.uk/whats-on/the-knife-angel

Friends who are cops tell me that on routine stops of lads that age they know are on the fringes of the county lines scenes that they’re finding enormous machetes that would be used to cut sugar crops hidden in their trackies. 4 month detention orders for 16-17 year olds, 6 months minimum custodial for 18+. I’d probably make it for 1st rather 2nd offence but the sentencing tools are there and with legal people in my family, I know they’re frequently used but as you say, institutions of all types chocca block full.

Research is as key as sentences, taking the points off knives doesn’t effect their effectiveness in the kitchen but can save lives https://www.dmu.ac.uk/about-dmu/news/2026/january/de-montfort-university-switches-to-round-tipped-knives-across-campus-to-promote-safety.aspx
