eelpie Posted 26 January, 2009 Share Posted 26 January, 2009 Another player not good enough for Saints, but good enough for the Premiership. That was down to Burley, wasn't it? How we could do with Pele now. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/portsmouth/7850798.stm

Saints67 Posted 26 January, 2009 Share Posted 26 January, 2009 I'm sure this is a different Pele from 'our' Pele. How many of these Peles are there out there?

stevegrant Posted 26 January, 2009 Share Posted 26 January, 2009 I'm sure this is a different Pele from 'our' Pele. How many of these Peles are there out there? Probably quite a lot - after all, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. In forty years time, there'll be hundreds of David Beckhams... a1ex2001 Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 Interestingly the Pele who did play for us seems to be rotting in west broms reserves, he's only made three first team appearences this season. Could he be the tackling midfielder we need? I'm sure West Brom would like to get him off the wage bill!
oxfordshire_saint Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 Indeed it is a completely different Pele. The one Pompey have signed is a young Portuguese central midfielder who joined Porto last year from Inter Milan as part of the Ricardo Quaresma deal. He hasn't got a game at Porto so has joined P*mpey on loan. As far as I know, the Pele we had is rotting in the ressies at West Brom.
david in sweden Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 Another player not good enough for Saints, but good enough for the Premiership. That was down to Burley, wasn't it? How we could do with Pele now. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/portsmouth/7850798.stm I wouldn't get too excited. I think Pele is not an uncommon name these days, and usually " borrowed" by Latin / S.American players who have unpronouncable names in the first place...but at least it gets them noticed !
