It's not like Labour or Conservative did what the electorate wanted anyway so I don't see much of a problem with giving someone else a term if that's what happens. Sadly in the warped mind of mentalsogmickey, labour are allowed to lie and do nothing. Not the Tories and definitely not reform. He is just to far gone in the head toa we anything outside his disturbed view. He has said above my views are disgusting. Just lol. What on earth is disgusting about limiting illegal immigration? The bloke is a head case and as waste of time to argue with. Edit. He now seems to have an issue with my Asian wife as he always feels the need to mention her race. I thought race was irrelevant? So why mention her being Asian all the time lol. Total hypocrite full of hate. Edited Friday at 13:55 by east-stand-nic Edit mentioned 1

sadoldgit Posted 11 hours ago Author Posted 11 hours ago Interesting that a number of people say they voted for Reform because the main two parties are “horrible”. If so why vote for a party that is even more horrible than both of them put together? Wouldn’t the LibDems have been a better choice for a protest vote for the non racists? Perhaps we’re are not the tolerant country that some would have us believe we are? An in-depth look at the vote by the BBC showed that Reform was very popular by those who voted for Brexit and Johnson. No surprise there other than despite being proved as a complete disaster for the country, the same people still support both! Rupert Lowe wrote a very scathing piece on X about Reform and there lack of policies (other than anti immigration). Someone here said that he was further right than Farage. Judging by his posts he is further right than Hitler. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2025/may/02/runcorn-byelection-voter-displeasure-disengagement-reform-uk 3

It’s been bad enough having these nutters invading the local newsgroups with their racist bile. Now some of them are actually running the council. How long before they form a militia and have them spread along the Kent beaches wielding pitchforks? Sod the potholes and broken local services, let’s just sort out the foreigners. There are a few houses for sale in the village. I expect Batman et al might be interested. What next? The local ale house changing its name to the Farage Arms and being frequented by gammons and “nine pinters”? We’re doomed I tell you! Doomed! 🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴 1

Can you imagine the village brunch? In one corner SOG preaching with his trans mate, the mixed raced barmaid, the Muslim barber and Andrew Parker-Bowles mate all nodding along in agreement to everything SOG says In the other corner a large group of racists decked out in England shirts and St George’s crosses frothing at the mouth at the mere mention of anything non British. They’d be constantly shouting across the room asking the mixed raced barmaid where she was from originally and “oi Mohammed, don’t blow me up will you” at the barber It sounds fabulous for a reform voter Ilkey me, I’m just off to check out the property for sale on right move 1
Lord Duckhunter Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago John Curtice , “In summary, Reform did best in what has sometimes been characterised in the wake of the Brexit referendum as 'left-behind' Britain” “Reform's highest vote of all (65.1%) was in Thornley & Wheatley Hill, situated in Tony Blair's former Sedgefield constituency in Durham and once a centre of coal mining. Next highest was Chadsmoor in Staffordshire and Romney Marsh in Kent.” Fucking hell, no wonder he’s so miserable, he’s part of the left behind…..😂😂😂

sadoldgit Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago Just read an interview with a new Kent county councillor. He said out of 57 of them only 6 have previous political experience. He has already been asked when he is going to stop the boats. He and the people who voted for him are in for a rude awakening.

Gloucester Saint Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago 2 minutes ago, badgerx16 said: They will find out how little independent power Councils have. They made the same stupid claims in the literature here - there aren’t specific EDI posts, hidden or not, that I can discern - but a quick search indicates there’s working groups which are probably 10-15 hours pa of people’s time from other specialisms and across the parties https://careers.gloucestershire.gov.uk/GloucesterCity/content/Diversity/?locale=en_GB Thankfully, Reform only got 11 seats here (still 11 too many) so they won’t be introducing any Trump shit here. As you say, they’ll find that any hypothetical savings of a few hundred quid on trading here and there doesn’t make a dent on deficits of hundreds of millions. And that’s before the SEND assessment and diagnosis challenges.
badgerx16 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) This from the Local Government Association outlines Concils' obligations for EDI ; "The Equality Act 2010 challenges organisations to know how age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion/belief, sex, and sexual orientation describe the experiences of local communities, both individually and collectively. Thinking about the relationship between these ‘protected characteristics' explains the difficulties and opportunities arising from the diversity of local areas. They are a reminder that the consequences of difference on effective service delivery cannot be avoided either for the provider or the user. Organisations are expected to use this understanding to demonstrate ‘due regard' to the Public Sector Equality Duty to: eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation and other conduct prohibited by the act advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not." The PSED is also very different to affirmative action programmes running in the States, given the different cultural and social contexts between the countries (eg the KKK, racial segregation in living memory). If Reform want to go down that rabbit hole they will find in more southern, metropolitan and urban areas that is is met with a lot more public resistance and will drag in a lot more groups they don’t want to eg veterans at the cross-section of disability/EDI/PTSD. British people even in England value employment rights a lot more than America, we are far more of a European nation in that respect. Edited 1 hour ago by Gloucester Saint
