You can argue that all our recruitment has benefited from the multi club model because it allows us to pool the resources of three clubs into one global scouting network. (Impossible to prove admittedly)

Or it's just cheaper to get people who were working solely for our club to now work for other clubs as well.

Well, I guess, that "technically"... ...analysts from Turkish or French clubs would not be subject to any EFL 72hr scouting ban? 🤔

If the multi-club model didn't exist, we wouldnt be having this intelligent debate and I'd be wasting time looking at gross stuff on interestingasfuck instead.

What benefit has there been?

Matsuki wouldn't have been eligible to play in England had he not played for Göztepe.

He needed to get the points for international clearance.

I like the idea. Brighton, Man City, Chelsea and Red Bull show it can work if done properly. We don't buy enough players to send to these team i.e Szobozslai RB, Savinho City Group. Is Juan the last player we bought that went to Goztepe on loan? Not going to see benefits if we aren't sending them young talent.

Some won’t ever warm to it. Fair. For me it’s a good idea but hasn’t been effective yet. I have felt for a long time we need to be creative to get a competitive edge as we can’t compete financially, on current terms, with a large number of top flight teams. Anyway, back to transfers - any rumblings on a Charles replacement? Was the lad at Hibs mooted for that type of role?

When does a good idea stop being a good idea? When you put Rasmus in charge of it.

First of all, it is Dragan Solak who is spending the money – it’s coming out of his own pocket. Over the last two Premier League seasons, Southampton spent 280 million euros on transfers; 2.5 million euros was spent on Matsuki, which is less than 1 per cent of the total transfer spend. Matsuki was loaned to Göztepe for one year before returning to Southampton. In the Kayi Sanda transfer, the money simply moved from one of Dragan Solak’s pockets to the other. To suggest that Southampton were relegated because of an expenditure amounting to less than 1 per cent of the total is absurd.

I think you should read up on how it works in England (if this is not a wind up) regards to club transfers.

Still unsure what benefit is is/was to Southampton that we paid a vastly inflated/record deal for a young kid, conveniently from the French sister club.

Every club has its own sporting director, head coach and scouts; it’s not you who’s doing the legwork, it’s Sport Republic. Clubs that sign players from Göztepe don’t really care about the quality of the Turkish league. The player who replaced Sesko shone at Göztepe and was transferred; the Ipswich Town striker shone at Göztepe; Juan, who was sought after by Champions League teams, was developed by Göztepe – they all shone in the Turkish league.

Bless you.

I like the idea that we dont buy players as a club and that Dragan finances them out of his own pocket, with no financial impact to Saints what so ever

Fransız çocuk tam bir şakaydı, değerinin 10 katına çıktı ve Fransız üçüncü liginden yapılan en büyük ikinci transfer oldu 😂 😂

Lis is the goalkeeper you signed on a free transfer from a relegated team. Göztepe paid Romulo’s transfer fee. Romulo moved to a Champions League club; had Southampton not been relegated, he would most likely have gone there. You want Romulo, who is valued at 25 million euros and for whom Göztepe paid the fee, but Göztepe wasn’t even given a player of Onuachu’s calibre in return. Your expectation of mutual benefit is purely one-sided and far too high. The multi-club system has caused no harm to the clubs; it has brought only a very minor benefit. In other words, there is no situation that can be regarded as a loss. The Kayi Sanda transfer was made to increase the player’s market value; should there be an issue with Financial Fair Play, Valenciennes could balance the situation by signing two or three Southampton academy players by paying their transfer fees. Dragan Solak manages Southampton with a greater focus on sporting success, whilst he manages Göztepe with a greater focus on profit. If he’d spent an extra 5 million euros on Göztepe, they’d be competing in the Europa League; Göztepe is a goose that lays golden eggs, but he isn’t feeding it too much :) I’m allowed three messages a day – I don’t know why.

I think we would just like a tangible benefit when we are the central club in this...our should I said, the money club in this

The Kayi Sanda transfer was made to increase the player’s market value;

The fee we paid (not Goztepe I might add) was astronomical and completely out of whack with any other player in that league, probably ever.

One of those benefits we are all waiting for, yes?

Yes, kind of has to (see my initial point of Southampton being the central, sorry, money club). Since Dragan and his merry men came in we have been a fucking shambles in the main. Fucking right he provides a bit of focus in fixing it (we are still out of the top flight, and trust me that will impact your team with the French side).

I think many Saints fans would wish he would sell up and piss off to Turkey to be honest. There he can feed the golden goose in a league with f-all revenue compared to the English top flight. But he can buy all the players he wants, which would be a bonus.

There quite simply hasn’t been any major positives of the “multi-club” model.

We made a few million in terms of signing players, loaning them to Goztepe and eventually them signing them permanently.

That is it.

SR tried to run before they could walk and should’ve taken a more safe approach: Build up Southampton, their reputation, the clubs stature and then begin looking into multiple clubs and branch out.
