It will be interesting to see if he knocks JWP out of the team as I cannot help thinking that Jander has gone up a lot in some peoples view whilst he was out. Good to see that we have three best midfielders. Going by yesterday’s set up I think we’ll play all 3 of them but Bragg started because Jander cant play 90 minutes yet. Probably worked on it during the break. I very much doubt we changed our system just for the Pompey game to go back to how we have been playing in the next one as they’re shite. Going forward it'll be a midfield 3 with Jander, Downes and JWP. Edited Monday at 06:27 by Turkish 1

I guess it would depend on the opposition, away from home against the better teams it'd be Downes and Jander sitting (i believe its called a double pivot these days) home we'd probably play with one sitting (aka single pivot) with Jander and JWP further up, yesterday JWP was more right sided with Bree overlapping, which is obviously how we scored the goal but also left us pretty exposed on the right. Maybe JWP will play wide right or go with the Puel style diamond with Azaz at the top of it. We've got 4 very good central midfield players for this level i cant see how we can leave any of them out particularly when Fellows and to a lesser extent Matuski haven't really made themselves undroppable.

Yep, agree, although I'd venture that Matsuki isn't a million miles away from making himself undropable... These days, he always seems to improve us when he comes on and/or when he starts. Matsuki definitely ahead of Fellows right now, i think there is a decent player in Fellows but he seems to lack confidence at the moment, smashing shots rather than placing them is a classic sign. 2

True, I think having several "three game weeks" helps give them all game time , Tonda said Jander needs to build up his match fitness so can't see him playing 90 mins for a while as they ease him back in. Matsuki has earned some more minutes I'd say. Fellows is an odd one, great at driving runs to get the ball forward but not much else. 1

Yes also true, lots of games so will be an option to rotate them as well, plus Downes will inevitably get suspended at some point. Squad looks decent really, just need someone to share the load with Larin as he definitely cant do 90 minutes 3 times a week and Mumaba clearly isnt fancied by anyone.

If playing the same formation as yesterday I'd bring in Jander for Bragg and, on the right, I'd swap in Matsuki for JWP who hasn't got the legs and speed which left us exposed in the first half against Pompey.

If fellows was on the right yesterday (and not JWP) I’d venture that that lot down the road wouldn’t have had the space we gave them in the first half. 4

St Chalet Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Let’s enjoy him this season. If we don’t get promoted he will be off. 1
JohnnyShearer2.0 Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago He definitely got better and better as last season progressed. Yes there were a couple of games where he wasn't in it but overall improved so much. Bodes well that he's come back like this. Need to get promoted otherwise he'll be going to the premier league or abroad easy.

Toadhall Saint Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Rolls Royce of a player. Glides across the turf and is always knicking the ball off the opposition. 4
Dan Johnson Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Started a little slow, probably down to the fact he wasn’t warm and came into an active game, grew and grew and grew into the game and by the end he looked every bit the player we saw last season, forgot just how good he is! Should have scored, lack of goals and being clinical are the only slight downside to his game, otherwise he’s exceptional. did everything else right tonight, miss aside. my MOTM 3
saintant Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Oozes class and could already play in the Premier League. Has to be the first name on the team sheet whenever fit. 1
Saint_lambden Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago There isn't a better player than him outside the Premier League at winning the ball/tackling. Top class and will eventually go for big bucks. 2
Lee On Solent Saint Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Best midfielder in the league. If Hackney can win Championship player of the year last year, Jander must be in with a huge chance this season. 4
Swaythling Saint Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Fantastic player, so great to watch and so great at his role - glad he's back 3
saintwbu Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Where’s that bloke who thinks he’s rubbish and Charles is much better? 😂 Absolutely superb player, we’d have won our first away game before now had we had him fit all season, so glad to have him back. 4 2
saintant Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Almost feels like a new signing. We've done well enough without him but last night showed how much he's been missed. The sooner he is starting games the better. 2
Osvaldorama Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Couldn’t agree more with the above, outstanding player for this level. So happy he’s back. Makes everything look so easy, and the ball sticks to him like magic whenever he goes in for tackles. 3
saintant Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I wonder what Jander is worth in today's market. We got a £30m package for Shea Charles and he's nowhere near the class of Caspar. I think when he goes it'll be to one of the top German sides.

For me he matches Schneiderlin’s tackling ability, although with a bit more style than aggression. But couples that with the style of a young Steve Williams when on the ball. Hope we get a season in the EPL from him should we go up. 2
Miltonaggro Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Touch of the Schneiderlins about him, possibly even better. Essential that we go up as we could build a side around this lad. 2
