Female athletes have spoken out against a controversial sports gambling advert starring actress Sydney Sweeney.

Better than an ad of a mixed race group of friends having ‘ banter’ about the ‘footy’ and all smiles about a sinister industry portraying betting as all fun. 
People love to hate Sydney Sweeney I know, but FFS the betting company must be loving this ‘controversy’. Men love to look at fit women whether these female athletes accept it or not.

Lots of bleating this morning about misogynistic adverts, womens rights being infringed, a dated advert a throw back to the 80s , sexualising sport etc. I wonder if they'd be moaning of it was a fit bloke doing it. Doubt it.

I remember seeing a CK advert a while back featuring a woman with a fairly obvious obesity problem just wearing her underwear. All the comments underneath were basically women saying things along the lines of:

- You go girl, flaunt it!

- All the haters are out just because she doesn’t conform to their size zero body expectations 

- OMG just love her confidence.

- Don’t listen to the haters, this girl is (fire emoji)

- Disgusted but sadly not surprised by all the so called men who think they can tell women what to wear.

- We don’t need your permission to dress how we want, thank you insecure, incels.

 

Amazing how many people are willing to completely flip their opinions when confronted with a woman they’re feel might be  a threat to their self esteem. I used to work with a woman who having been borderline obese for many years lost a considerable amount of weight and looked much better for it. She mentioned how a couple of other women she thought were friends were basically not talking to her any more, since she lost the weight.

 

The world can be a snidey place sometimes. I feel sorry for women, who seem to have to live with a lot more fake niceness than men do.

That's basically what it comes down to, another moan was that we've been told what we should look like as women for years etc and this takes us back to the 80s. It's because shes hot, nothing more nothing less, if she wasn't they wouldnt be moaning. Like the body positive movement for fatties which was showing how amazing it was to be a woman etc because it wasn't a threat to them. Although funny how that's died down now they can fix it with a jab instead of a diet.

Apart from something about a jeans commercial, I only know about Sweeney because I sat through the film Anyone But You.

Partner: Anyone but you - said with a serious look, and a slight  narrowing of the eyes.
Me: Surely not. There are men in prison who have done horrendous things.
Partner: Pauses...how horrendous?

How was the film? No idea. My inner self spent 90 minutes screaming, if that's any indication.

I first came across her on White Lotus (very good if you havent seen it). She isn't my usual sort of girl and considering she is young enough to be my daughter im hard pushed to admit she is attractive, but she is.
