thorpie the sinner Posted 24 February, 2009 Share Posted 24 February, 2009 With the intimated board meeting taking place today, and admin mooted on here by various posters maybe as an end result! northam soul Posted 24 February, 2009 Share Posted 24 February, 2009 It would be just typical of this club to offer us a bit of hope with saturdays performance then go and kick us in the nuts by going into admin. I really cannot see anyone buying us at the moment with the value of the club at around 4.5mill as the major shareholders will want double that to get out. Maybe if we do go into admin i can put my proposal forward for buying the club as long as i get it for a pound, i will invest £500 per month into the club instead of my pension as they are both like throwing money down a well. The onl;y difference is the latter might cost me a divorce as well.

Not sure that we couldn't have carried on with Smith as a loan, also brought in Saeijs and Molyneux, even the other CB - which for us 4 fit CBs is a luxury -would they have done that if about to go under? Doubt it. I suppose with loans fees for Rasiak, John and Saga and the savings in wages there has been some stabilising - but once again without the facts we are ****ing in the dark

Anyway, in the absence of facts, here is my theory. Lowe has spoken to the Bank, and they have given him until the end of the season to improve things...they have told him that revenue from games isn't enough..hence his decision to play the experienced bods. With a bit of luck they've told him not to bring in so much cheap sh1te in the form of loans that don't play...and pointed out to him the last time he went for 'quantity over quality' we got relegated then as well. I am begining to think Lowe's "not a pot to piiss in" tactic was his way of grasping control of the football team's direction. I totally agree. I believe it has been a diversion tactic all along to allow him more control and freedom to do his thing, 'in the name of cost savings.' I don't doubt we have a bit of a financial mire going on, and that we are in a weak financial position, but I do doubt just how badly we are doing. I know of collegues who do things and when questioned there reasonong is 'cost issues' or the favorite in my world, 'Health and Safety issues'. The problem is you just can't argue when they are brought out. And it's easy to leak the 'admin' word, watch everyone scurrying around and panicing, then declaring, 'Hey, look at me! I staved off administration. Aint I good. Better than that Leon, he got us in this mess.' As I have said before, on Items like this, all those 'in the know' who are giving us snippets of info but can't go any further, how do they know that what they are being told is not a load of ******** whose sole reason is disinformation? How do you know you can trust a source? After all, they are betraying a confidence, and by telling us, so are you. Disinformation is a great tool, as is propaganda and the victories it can bring. If I was Lowe, that is what I would do. Let us not forget that he has tried to introduce the detractors, (the fake posters) stratagem, and has also looked to gain the high moral ground against the board when in exile. He has also divided his enemies and conquered. If I was him, I would also flood the forums and fans world with a lot of rumours of different strength and interest, constantly changing their premise and then watering down the exciting and interesting and probable ones that stand up to scrutiny, whilst also given credence to the weaker ones that seem not credible. By doing this he would be encouraging us to create the smoke screen for him. Or maybe I am being a little to cynical in envisageing a little part of SMS with a big '20' written on the door, in Roman Numerals.

Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 24 February, 2009 Share Posted 24 February, 2009 Ok, the fans that we lost this season, let's say the average drop is 3000 fans per home game (probably made up 80-20 adults, rest OAP's, kids etc), so that works out as a drop in income per match of £71400 (every 2 weeks, so a loss of 35700 a week), IF they are all paying customers and fans weren't lost due to drop in season tickets. Players whose wages we have got rid of this season through loans and free transfers cover the following (from what I can remember): - Rasiak - £10k John - £10k Lundekvam - £10k Viafara - £6k Saga - £8k Dyer - £6k Makin - £4k Idiakez - £9k Safri - £6k Wright - £4k and that's not even including: Richard Wright Chris Lucketti That Scottish player Anymore for anymore? That's £73k there, per week. Even with players we've brought in (who will not be on much money per week), that's still a potential saving of £1m a year, even with the offset loss in crowds. The fact that there are lots more players out of contract this summer on big wages may mean that currently we are breaking even. There is no way the bank would pull the plug on a company that is breaking even, even if they weren't paying back their overdraft.

This year you haven't really sold anyone of any value so money brought in from player sales will be vastly reduced. £1m saving doesn't even scrape the sides. Agreed, but the various loans etc will have brought in money (whereas the money we'd have to pay for ours would be much lower, if we have to pay anything at all). It would be interesting to see how that £15m is structured over the year (eg: how much lost on a month to month basis), because potentially we may have lost less towards the end of the year. Does anyone have a link to last years accounts, I fancy a gander?

Does anyone have a link to last years accounts, I fancy a gander? I think they're on the OS under investors. The last interim (6 month) accounts showed a loss (ex player sales) of around £7m and that pretty much doubled (over 12 months). I'm not an accountant so I don't know if things like transfer payments are shown when received or accrued over time, same goes for Season Ticket sales. As has been said many times before the next interim report will make very interesting reading... trousers Posted 24 February, 2009 Share Posted 24 February, 2009 Pompey reject Swiss takeover bid Portsmouth have rejected a takeover bid from a Swiss finance group. BBC Radio Solent understands an offer from VS Investments, fronted by former Tottenham player Ramon Vega, was deemed "unacceptable" by the club's board. It is believed that the bid was low because it factored in Pompey's debt of about £40m and it is unclear whether a fresh offer will be made. Portsmouth's owner Alexandre Gaydamak officially put the Fratton Park outfit up for sale in December. Pompey won the FA Cup last season under manager Harry Redknapp, but he joined Tottenham last October. His successor, Tony Adams, struggled to get results and was sacked after just 16 Premier League matches in charge. Portsmouth are currently 16th in the Premier League, five points above the relegation zone. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/portsmouth/7907562.stm "Yoo-hoo....Mr Vega.....we're over here...." I make that £232k per week, or am I just being simple. The total player/coach wage bill for the year was about 12 million £ The total revenue was just under 15 million (I think) so do the maths. Don't forget that profits from player transfers aren't included in the revenue. We paid a load of crap a shedload of Swans. That's the difference between last season and this season. This year we pay a load of crap very little money compared to last year, 'bout half as much (or less). The "matchday" revenue was 7.9 million, trouble is we paid players and coaches 12.1 million to achieve it.It's like selling stuff at a loss in the supermarket.
