I actually don’t mind Pompey winning. They’ve been so downtrodden it was getting uncomfortable to watch, even though they are rivals it can still reach a point where you just feel sorry for them. Nice for them to have a day out.

Holy ****, she is still going to stick at it! "A No 10 source tells the Press Association the prime minister will continue to seek support in the Commons for her deal. "Clearly it was not the result we wanted. But, that said, we have had a number of senior Conservative colleagues who have felt able to vote with the Government today. They have done so in higher numbers than previously," the source says. "Clearly there is more work to do. We are at least going in the right direction.""

looks like the most popular compromise - this way, neither remainers nor brexiters get what they want, but it overcomes the backstop issue and who wouldn't want to be like Norway? Norway is great.

The indicative votes only didn't reach any consensus because the tory's still had an eye on the may deal. now that is gone, they have one chance to come together and show that the house can agree on something. If they can't, then you have two options; 1) take it out of the hands of the house and offer a specified Deal (prob customs union) vs Remain to the general public via referendum 2) change the house makeup by calling a general election. Option 2, we could still end up with a split house who only vote for their parties and not the country's interest. At least option 1 gives a clear way forward - either we would leave with the deal in principle spelled out (probably customs union), or we stay in. And either way, May should GTFO asap, I've never seen such incompetence. As soon as Miller won her ruling that it needed to go through the house, and as soon as she f'ed up the snap GE, she should have been trying to find compromise, instead of just playing the ***** the whole time.

to be fair though, Ashley Cole didn't have to overcome being black to become popular, he needed to overcome being a complete cockwomble and stop abusing / vomiting on girls / STD scares / swearing at police / shooting visitors on the training pitch etc., and not to mention his general on-pitch behaviour.

No, it’ll be Man City or Arsenal.

actually that looks quite diverse as a group, plenty of different ethnicities, genders, ages. as a way of looking at it, take a group of 5 adjacent people in that picture, and chances are you have some diversity in that 5. strange interpretation to use that picture and suggest there is a lack of diversity.

I feel sorry for Scotland, what did they do to deserve this. I'm sure they would much rather be a part of the EU than the UK. Maybe that will be an eventual consequence, once we have the tech for soft borders, which will be fast-tracked, there will be nothing to stop them, and it may well end up a straightforward decision for the Scottish people.

(ahem) played him. he got in the england squad by summer, (only, it didn't feel very loving from Southgate).

Yes, it really will :-)

below the elbow on the clip I saw. "Former Premier League referee Peter Walton: “We called it straight away,” he said. “The way Kimpembe has gone up there, left his arm out, turned his back, and made himself bigger. This is exactly why VAR has been brought in. VAR has to decide if it’s in the area so that he can adjudicate on it. For me, that’s a handball. He’s turned his back, not taken responsibility for his arm. It’s a penalty kick.”
-
It was an easy decision, no question it hit his hand, no question he was "making himself big" to block the ball. Far more of a penalty than Cedric's for portugal, for example. I predict we will hear very little about it once Manu are out and a new competition has started. "a game of football to determine the victors for this year at least, and indeed at most".
-
I thought so too - because the penalty is considered a goal scoring opportunity, so nothing has been "denied", I thought this was the case for the last 2-3 years, but maybe have they changed it again, or maybe I am just wrong, although in that case I would play the mandela card.

3 at the back, we should dominate midfield, plenty of opportunities for jwp and Redmond. Wish Austin was more mobile but that team should win the game.

It is also creating a paradox on the far left, since there are conflicts behind gender focus and identity, clashing with toxic masculinity, male tropes etc. I also think they need to drop the T from LGBT soon, since they don't really occupy the same space or face the same issues. having said that I see it as fairly harmless - a very small percentage of people are affected, a very small percentage of children will grow up with serious mental health issues related to it, but there are plenty of more impactful social ills that will screw the future generations up much more than this. There is more noise about it than is warranted.

A first step could be to have female carnivores vs. Male vegans? Could be a stepping stone towards something. Difficult to police though and would be lots of meat-doping scandals on the vegan end.

I’d like to clear up a myth about the deatherendum, and this idea that the old brexit voters to blame will not be around. Thing is, everyone has gotten older since the last vote. Peoples voting preferences change as they get older and usually to the right. The population demographics voting in a second vote will not be so different to last time, and if anything we have an ageing population so we can expect further shifts right. Every floppy haired graduate comes out liberal and by the time they get older and realise how the world really is tend to shift away from believing what they were taught, and make judgements based on their own experience and opinions. People who blame the elderly don’t seem to be aware that they willl be old one day, and they won’t be so different when they get there.
-
Footballing cliche alert: Is it more dangerous than 1-0? Why bother scoring the second then? Is it more dangerous than 2-1? Maybe we should put an og in ASAP?

Alli plays for Spurs, so you divide by 2, i.e. 1 game ban. Austin plays for saints, so multiply by 1.5 = he should get 3 matches.
-
Actually, just looking at the squads outside of Man City/Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs, there is some horrific **** at all the clubs below them. JWP would be a respectable signing for anyone outside top 6. Also, commentators were raving about him against City, reckoned he covered more of the pitch than anyone else, said his work rate was amazing, and also best dead ball delivery in the league. There must be something in that we could utilise. he also had by far the most touches of the ball of any saints player (56) against city, and the below was less than one year ago; https://www.premierleague.com/news/617908 give him games...
-
Still the quickest at the club, according to hojberg and Austin.

The one positive right now is the togetherness and crowd onside. This jeopardises that, so I say throw him off the train, sack him if need be, it wouldn’t be any great loss.
