  1. They won't win the league any time soon anyway... City and United (Even Spurs and Chelsea are stronger) are way ahead of them and it will take more than Van Dijk to change that. There's no guarantee he'll match the form he had prior to his injury anyway.
  2. Anybody know anything about Jack Hendry? https://www.clubcall.com/southampton/saints-could-enter-hendry-race-1872760.html
  3. The ultimate blame definitely lies in the boards poor movement in the transfer window and their questionable appointments regarding staff and management. They need to learn that you can't go cheap in the league of BIG money.
  4. Giving both managers the same time, we've conceded 9 more goals but scored 4 more. So Puel certainly had us more organised but also more toothless. Puel has the edge especially considering we had more fixtures (although I can't forgive him for fielding weakened teams in the Europa league). Having said that, we've been better than the tail end of last season where we failed to score in six of our last 7 matches. We seemed to get worse over the course of the season. Personally, I find the argument over who was better pointless seeming as both failed to get the best out of the team.
  5. If that was true he would have been sold last summer. Pellegrino said we still needed him back in August.
  6. High pressing and quick offensive play are not things we ever did under Puel. Pellegrino has been no better.
  7. Here we are.
  8. Exactly this. It's also worth pointing out that Puel didn't get us playing anywhere near like that last season. People that feel they need to take every opportunity to say "I told you so" are the real morons and need to get behind our team. As I said in the other thread a few days ago: You've got to be pretty thick to think what a manager can do at one club they can simply do at another.
  9. I always got the impression the players never truly got on board with his philosophies and it showed. No goals in six of our last 7 matches and only 17 goals at home all season in 19 games isn't a sign of a working system. There is no doubt in my mind that last season saw us playing the most boring football I have ever had the misfortune of paying for in my life. It's also worth pointing out that the system he's playing with Leicester isn't the same system he played with us. Perhaps he learnt his lesson. I think it's fair to argue Leicester and Claude Puel are just a better match. Much like Southampton and Ronald Koeman was.
  10. Exactly, it's about clear cut chances created. We need a player that can make those killer passes we currently don't make.
  11. There's definitely space for a playmaker in this team. We don't have one, Tadic and Davis come closest but they're not.
  12. Agree bolstering our midfield would have helped today and with Lemina on the bench it made sense. Still, I'm seeing improvements and as long as I see the team working hard and scoring goals I'm willing to give him more time.
  13. Wasn't a penalty as the ball was already out of play. Worst that could have happened was a Yoshida yellow card.
  14. Not ideal from our perspective.
  15. No the doubt the Everton fans will lap it up though.
  16. Optimistic.
  17. I bet it's gone down well with the fans though!
  18. Apparently he's already caused controversy by repeatingly refering to them as "Hull City" (which is apparently not okay with the owner?).
  19. I like to think Shaw would pick us over Everton if that scenario was to happen. Not sure anymore after Koeman though.
  20. He was there but sometimes he just needs to put in that early cross or cut in straight away. Austin would benefit much more from that. Instead, he slows us down and gives them a chance to reform at the back. It's unnecessary.
  21. Thought Boufal struggled today. Nearly cost us the game in the first half and kept slowing down attacks with unnecessary tricks. I have this idea that he must be cursed by a witch. Perform a skill before you can pass the ball.
  22. Honestly pretty mild when compared to chanting about kicking someones head in... or shooting someone...
  23. He's nearly won me back. Still got to wait and see if his selections continue to be successful and he drops players that deserve dropping (Redmond, Redmond, Redmond and Redmond).
  24. To be honest it was so predictable that I feel nothing. Maybe I'm dead?
  25. If we keep putting in performances like these last couple of games, Pelligrino will gradually get the fans back on side. We still need to sort out our chance taking though. City were there for the taking tonight (and I mean we could have won).
