That was quite an emotional day - last game of the season. Great pitch invasion with my little lad who is now a large hairy arsed saints supporting lad
-
Joking aside, it might make a lot of sense in order to eradicate the memories of this season for Saints to get rid of all but about 4 players and start completely fresh in June. Keep Tino, Alcaraz and Sulemana and sell every other one of them. A total rebuild job.
-
My wife just asked if we’re playing. I replied that we’re on the pitch but that’s about as much as you can say. Imagine getting paid this much money to be so bad at your job.
-
He definitely doesn’t know what he’s talking about. You see these people who think they’re clever by saying things that most people don’t understand. The reason most people don’t understand it is because they’re talking shite. Not because they’ve said anything worthwhile. Too many people pander to them instead of kicking them in the nuts.

Football has a terrible habit and track record of employing average people. After the debacle of this season, in any other walk of life the whole of this board would have been sacked. Instead they’re going to be allowed to make the same stupid mistakes all over again. And even that won’t be enough to get them gone. All I can say is that Dragan must have more money than sense. These guys running our club wouldn’t get such a high paid job anywhere else based on their performance. It really has been horrific since they stepped in. Careful what you wish for - I would give anything for the days of Gao to return.
-
I see Tony Mowbray is being linked. I would prefer him to Martin but he has the feeling of a journeyman and that we could just do better. With the money that we’ll have for a couple of seasons and some of the squad that will be left, we must be up there as one of the two or three most attractive clubs in the Championship to manage. Maybe I’m wrong but with the right approach we could get someone better than these two. Carrick would be the best in my view of the current Championship crop along with those out of work that we all know about - Gerrard, Vieira etc
-
You’re right - it doesn’t matter what they achieved as a player but it does matter that Carrick played for 7 years under arguably the greatest manager ever. What he would have learned from Fergie you couldn’t teach anyone.
-
Anyone seriously thinking that we could do better than Carrick just needs to take a minute and look at where we are and the general state of the club - from top to bottom. It’s a shit show. We would be bloody lucky to get him. I can guarantee now that we wont do better. Anyone thinking we’ll get someone like Potter or Rodgers is living in cloud cuckoo land.
-
We’ve missed a real trick here not getting him involved. I’d imagine that he would have jumped at it. We go on and on about our youth set up. The young lads would have looked up to him and SRL could also have had some involvement with the first team. It would have created some real goodwill with the fans and wouldn’t have cost the club huge money either. What a wasted opportunity. The board should get their heads out of their laptops (and their arses) and start to sort it out.
-
I I don’t like the bloke but think that you’re spot on. The board shouldn’t be delaying on this. Trouble is they want a certain type - someone with style but no substance - one of the trendy type managers who speak the right language and try to turn the game into a science. Don’t need a Pep wannabe in the Championship.
-
I see mad Nath is firm favourite to be next Cardiff manager. Please let it happen. Now that will be a fun day at St Mary’s next season when they come to visit.
-
Martin now come into 7/4 from 5/2. Does someone know something?
-
Now 5/2 with Skybet to be our manager on the first day of next season. Firm favorite with Selles at 7/1 and Rooney 7/1 second favorites. The owners must love his possession stats. This guy has the feel of another Nathan Jones...........................
-
PV's win % ratio at Palace was less than Ralph's with us (29% v 34%). With a good chunk of the current squad (which will probably be the case) and in the Championship rather than the PL, you would hope that PV could get that ratio well over 40% and possibly nearer 50%. That would match Chris Wilder's record at Sheff Utd who took them back to the PL. I would rather have the PV and Chris Wilder types joining than Russell Martin or the Plymouth guy (both of those have a sniff of the Nathan Jones type). I know people turn their noses us at someone like Chris Wilder but he really wouldn't be a bad shout for us in the Championship. As would PV.
-
Yep - one bit is wrong. They didn’t fluff every major decision. They did sack Ralph - just 6 months too late. And they did sack Jones - just 3 months too late.
-
We’re down. Get rid of him now. Over the summer clear out the whole lot bar 3 or 4 and start again.
-
There better not be any thought or suggestion that Selles stays in charge after this gutless end to this miserable campaign. No fight, no effort, no spirit, no desire. Truly pathetic. JWP is also the captain of this shower. Take a good look at yourself Mr Ward-Prowse. You’re not blameless.
-
First questions to be asked of Selles. He’s fucked this up tonight so far
-
It will go down in Saints folklore. 40 years from now if someone fucks up and is totally clueless but really think they are the dog bollocks, it will be referred to as “Doing a Nathan”. We’ll have to explain to our grandchildren.
-
If we go down it will be the fault of one person only and we know who that is. Those games in January against our relegation rivals was a disaster. We replicate the results from the last 4 games over the next 12 and we stay up. Jones is squarely to blame - not our lack of goals. The worse manager this club has appointed in the last 50 years.
-
The whole of this season’s shit show can be traced back to last summer. The board made three huge gaffs. Firstly, they should have got rid of Ralph. Secondly, they should have bought a striker who scores goals. Thirdly, Romeu should have either been persuaded to stay one more season or he should have been properly replaced. In my view it’s as simple as that. Those three actions would have resulted in this season being very different. It was obvious to the majority of fans that Ralph had run his race by the end of last season but the board couldn’t see it. They should pay for that now with their heads.
-
Orsic was a disgrace tonight. If that’s all he’s got then get rid asap. I’m a fan of Perraud but he had an absolute stinker tonight. God it was bad all over.
-
Is this the lowest we’ve felt since that home defeat to Rochdale back in League One all those years ago? We hit bottom that day and this feels similar. We’re going down with this group of players and we need to go down to regroup, have a clear out, sack the board and appoint a proper manager. No disrespect to Ruben but we need an experienced campaigner to get us out of the Championship.
-
Based on your post Charlie, we might as well just scrap Saintsweb and all fans forums should be scrapped as well based on your logic. For all intents and purposes, those that attend matches pay the players wages. The players know when they enter football that they are up for criticism - part of the game. Always has been and always will be. You will remember the Dell and how players got dogs abuse constantly if they were crap. The only difference in those days was they got it straight at them being so close to the pitch - not from reading a computer screen. Ely and the game now is no different.

Never thought I’d say this but we are missing Che. Whilst he misses the easy ones at least he creates opportunities and holds the ball up well. He is still our best forward at the club. Big tall Paul will not make it at this level. Someone made a comparison recently with him and Pelle. I wish.
