  1. I mean you have to say that working conditions are better now than 100 years ago - government made that happen
  2. I agree that can be the case but it's just not acceptable to me to have a defeatist attitude. Government has done many good things for people along with the failures, we have to try, and if there are adverse effects then we refine the policy
  3. So what's your proposal to help people who are stuck on these contracts?
  4. And I'm trying to explain to you that that's irrelevant when others are suffering because employers are misusing them. And if people like them then they can still use them under labour's plans
  5. That does need to be thought about, though some will presumably not want to go through the effort of training up new staff. The main thing I take issue with its you and the tories denying there is a problem
  6. The employee doesn't have to accept the permanent contract, it's up to them. Did you even listen when Ed explained it?
  7. No that's not what I'm saying
  8. It doesn't. Clearly it works for some people. But other companies, like Sports Direct, are using it to exploit their workers and give them no security
  9. I'm sorry if the tourism guy has to change his business model but it's worth it to protect the people who are being exploited
  10. Ed rallying now. That economy section was horrific though. The public doesnt understand economics, and labour isn't trying to explain it
  11. OK thanks, I was genuinely asking the question rather than trying to prove a point
  12. The guy comparing the national economy to him buying a pint really was depressing
  13. Mili certainly having a hard time here
  14. You could argue is hyperbole but it's not an outright lie
  15. But you can't give any examples
  16. This may well just be my bias but I can't think when labour mislead people like this (under miliband)?
  17. Cameron saying that our budget deficit was bigger than Greece, ignoring the fact that our economy is much bigger than theirs. The way he misleads people on complex economic issues is despicable
  18. And yet that's where they put labour and the lib dems! https://www.politicalcompass.org/uk2015
  19. I struggle to imagine what kind of psycho would be further out into the blue territory
  20. My recollection of this in the past is that no one comes out right wing https://www.politicalcompass.org/yourpoliticalcompass?ec=-5.38&soc=-4.51
  21. I think I'm right in saying that if Labour wins the election it will be the first time the Sun hasn't backed the winner (or something like that anyway). That said, their campaign against Labour doesn't seem particularly to be following public opinion when Labour is supported by in excess of 30% of the electorate
  22. More evidence for Whitey Grandad http://www.theguardian.com/politics/live/2015/apr/29/election-2015-miliband-tory-12bn-welfare-cuts-russell-brand-interview-live#block-5540fbe3e4b090ea3d998578
  23. The trade unions are membership organisations paid for by ordinary people and with elected leaders. Tory donors are unelected rich people whose sole focus is making money for themselves and their shareholders. In not saying the unions always have it right but the two aren't really comparable
