Quite right. Some absolute garbage written on here on Hughes who has an enviable record in this division. Anything like the impact he had at Fulham or Blackburn or Stoke or Wales and we're laughing.
-
We've done well if we only sign Hughes for the rest of the season.
-
Was a dreadful signing for us, so he'll be better off not mentioning it in his website unveiling interview.
-
It's been an entire day. Mark Hughes (or whoever) and their agent are allowed to negotiate, they're allowed to make us squirm a bit. We're also allowed to interview more than candidate. We'll have someone in before the weekend no bother - we won't go on national TV with Jaidi and Kelv leading them out.
-
We'll have to give him at least a year and a half contract, probably two and a half. If I was Mark Hughes that's what I would ask for. No one is going to take an eight game deal.
-
We're still taking our medicine for completely fu cking up the season. In a way we don't deserve an exciting appointment - we've left it too late and we're reaping what we've sown.
-
Hughes feels like the inevitable appointment. Personally feel he is perfectly capable of keeping us up. Not exciting but competent. Needs a strong start. I don't think we'd have got Silva anyway, he's going to hang on for something better. And Bilic would have been okay short term, but genuinely prefer Hughes to him.
-
It is and will be less lucrative.
-
He's about to take one of the top seeds to the World Cup. He's not about to jack that in to coach Nathan Redmond.
-
Sounds like the kind of weird corrupt stuff you read in Private Eye. I love reading about corrupt stuff in Private Eye.
-
See you later you absolute bellend.
-
Personally I am looking forward to the ITK leaking and rumour mongering of a high profile manager we have absolutely no chance of hiring but still spend four weeks going on about it. It's a summer tradition already. A freshly sacked Unai Emery maybe? Tuchel again?
-
One way to not get too annoyed is to not read articles from six months ago.
-
I don't know why people keep talking about the owner having/getting the VVD money, like Liverpool personally handed him an oversized charity cheque with £75m on it and he's just run away with it.
-
And the non-signings. Remain convinced that a decent Pelle replacement scoring actual goals would have created a team under less pressure where luxury players like Redmond and Boufal may well have flourished.
-
Sorry, just checked. We have never, ever before even finish four seasons in a row in the top ten of the top flight. But we're supposed to believe that the second, third and fourth seasons in an unprecedented run formed part of a "slide". Fu cking right you are.
-
Anyone that considers us finishing in sixth place, on 18 wins - eighteen wins - as being part of a "slide" or an "erosion of culture" is a fu cking idiot. Fair play if you want to be that guy. Last season was an average one but not terrible by our historical standards. A decent managerial appointment, or even a sacking of Pellegrino in November or January could have had us top ten yet again no bother. Top ten for five consecutive seasons in the Premier League has never happened for us and was hardly a regular occurrence in the pre-Prem era. If we were 9th now - hardly unrealistic- I seriously doubt people would be babbling on about a made up slide that started two or three years before. It's horsesh it son. We've appointed a dreadful manager and too fu cking pig-headed to admit it. Slide started last summer and here we are.
-
Simple - it's the number of games he's going to play divided by two. He scores every other game you know.
-
January 1st we'd have been an attractive proposition for a decent manager to take on, especially with the VVD money in the bank. Even four weeks ago there would be enough there for a decent manager to think he could be the hero and the winnable games were there. Now, we are so fu cked I don't blame anyone for giving it the swerve, apart from someone who considers themselves a Championship expert.
-
Well, at least it's another nail in the coffin of the "stick with the manager" myth, unless anyone here is brave enough to recommend that we do stick with Pellegrino for another two full seasons. After all, he needs to bed in, get his ideas across because like Alex Ferguson and stuff.
-
Why was he flogged to us then?
-
Personally I enjoyed the "slide" in 2015 to 7th and then the further catastrophic slide in 2016 to sixth. The slide to eighth, still one of our highest ever finishes, in 2017 was a slide I could pretty easily live with especially as I slid to Wembley.
-
So we dropped Forster because he is a really excellent goalkeeper and the club decided that as a result he must not play?
-
This is the Lemina who some believe is on a one-way ticket to Liverpool because he's definitely a Champions League standard mega-player.
