You're not really making much sense. You said he was signed to shift merchandise. He's nowhere near a big enough name to be primarily a merchandise selling signing. Ronaldo, yeah. Gerrard to LA, yeah. His performances on the pitch are not "incidental" they are critical to his star quality and his merch-shifting potential. If he and United both fail they are not going to be selling many Pogba commemorative oven gloves.

Promising keeper attracted by coaching set up is not quite the same as CL-club-signs-keeper-and-personal-coach-on-a-two-for-one-swoop.

There won't be a right offer from Everton which is why we won't sell him to Everton. One of the things that will make it not right will be the fact that it is from Everton. You can make out we sell anyone and anybody to whoever asks but we don't.

Why would you expect him to say that? Being that he signed a contract extension six months ago and is the captain of the side during a close season of some change, I'd "expect" him to say quite different things.

I just tried to upload two images of any old thing to change it but no joy. The "contains distressing images" warning is fine but that one image is one my phone every time I open this forum. Yes, very sad but I'd like the option to not look at it.

We are very capable of signing significant players on deadline day. However we don't typically sell major players late on, and filling such a crucial gap on or around deadline day, with all the other changes we've already had, is not ideal. We could well do without it.

Because I think if Manchester United came in for him, we probably would let him go. I'm not talking about deadline day, we're not mental, but late - ie we'd end up signing his replacement on deadline day.

Our main issue with Fonte is he isn't likely to be any big clubs first choice signing but someone they might turn to as back up if another deal falls through, especially as he is such a solid, low risk signing that could slot into a squad easily. What this means is he could be a late deal leaving us proper in the lurch. Those quotes fill me with no confidence whatsoever and more like prepping the ground for a "I'll never forget my time here" farewell statement than a commitment to actually stay. Bag'o'shi te.
