  1. Maybe we should have spent fifty million or one hundred million on the training ground instead then. Who cares about budgets? I mean, look at Stoke or Sunderland and stuff. Them being in worse debt than us means we can spend loads more and not worry or something. Fantastic logic. Get real.
  2. What's your point, apart from telling us you've just discovered Ben Goldacre. Welcome to 2004. My point is wailing about "why don't the media factor in depreciation" is a pretty futile ask, especially when the point in hand is not depreciation but the fact the budget doubled. And it isn't just media as big business, government all do the same sleight of hand stuff with their own announcements.
  3. Still twice the original budget though. And we pay for players in installments too. And, err, every govt/business/sporting/whatever announcement is handled by the media (and the bodies spending the money in their press releases in exactly the same way). "Asda investing £300m in 100 new stores" "HS2 bill now at £200bn" "Saints unveil £15m training ground plan" So either the media don't get the concept of depreciation, or you don't get the fact that figures are reported like that for everything, all the time, since forever.
  4. He probably does know a little about the GBP. I have to say I couldn't give a monkeys about them. But do I like the idea of us being the nation's second favourite team? Yes, I do. Infinitely more sensible angle for us than pie in the sky Champions League bulls h it from the Italian.
  5. Nice read. Plenty for the sneerers, still crying into their petticoats over the departure of the Italian, to get stuck into though. The article mentions the World Economic Forum and the Green Bay Packers so plenty of bonus points for the forum simpletons playing Krueger mockery Bingo. Have fun, ladies.
  6. How weak - minded are you? Can you not accept that people you admire can make mistakes?
  7. What on earth does any of this mean? How would progress in the FA Cup make us Pompey? And why couldn't we "cope" with, say, an FA Cup Semi final appearance? What would happen to us? How would our inability to "cope" manifest itself?
  8. Do your stuff about the club targeting 17th place again. Oh, it's so funny. It really is.
  9. "Mauricio Pochettino has failed this season. Let me tell you why" The first line of the article. The first freaking line.
  10. Don't worry, pretty sure I remember plenty of people saying how brilliant it will be when we knock Man United off 7th place on the last day. That will be ten times better than any cup final could ever be because it's, like, the league and stuff. The city will be rocking more than it did in 1976 when that thing with Man U definitely happens in a few weeks. Can't wait to get hold of the commemorative DVD of the match/bus parade/key to the city for Pochettino ceremony. And just imagine how jealous people in Hull will be.
  11. The Dalek pretend-opinion comedy wagon the is back on the road, everyone. Oh he's so funny. Remember to play along with him, he's only really got three jokes (this one, one about ridiculous points - to - stay -up targets and his Hoddle stuff). Just let him have his fun. Keep laughing.
  12. They should all be locked up for calling their plot 'operation trojan horse'. Effing idiots.
  13. Jesus. I think you should carry on not posting much if you are going to put nonsense like that up.
  14. Poyet, Bruce, Darren Ferguson.
  15. Especially for a complete non entity like Cyril Smith. Pretty sickening stuff.
  16. You think "do you think we're going to end the season with five - yes five - consecutive defeats" is a valid question? Of course we aren't. Next.
  17. Well, luckily we have that now.
  18. People can be optimistic and excited all they like. It's the "we're at a crossroads" bo lloc ks I am against. Be excited, be optimistic, but let's not here the whiny demands to hear the chairman promising huge spending and CL aspirations. The previous chairman did that and we got nowhere near. What I see on this thread is not "excitement" and "optimism", but people priming themselves to get angry when this "push" for fourth/sixth doesn't happen. A player or two will leave, and we won't be spending 30-40 million net to chase the CL. Finishing eighth next season is exciting and optimistic for me: it will be flipping tough to do. We start in August with zero points again. Do that, get to Wembley. Exciting. Optimistic. I'm excited. I'm optimistic. What I am not is waiting for any excuse to go bats hi t mental because a player gets sold or we don't sign someone on June 2nd.
  19. He did win the league, and they did well enough in the CL. Hardly Moyes levels of failure.
  20. I prefer chairmen that can manage to get a Premier League club to generate more commercial revenue than Watford. I reckon this guy can. Mainly by spending far less time snuzzling up to his chums at the Daily Mail than he predecessor did.
  21. We're not going to be top four. Not next season, not ever. There is no crossroads between us being a top six team and certain doom. Next season we are finishing somewhere between 7th (highly unlikely) and 14th. We will probably say goodbye to a player or two. We'll make some signings too. But we ain't magically turning into a top six mega-team. Not next season. Not ever. We are Saints. Eighth place next season would be another brilliant season. So get over it you bunch of fannies. No crossroads, no sign of intent, no assurances needed. What will be, we'll be. And we're in good hands.
  22. I get the impression he was sacked with the team bottom. Because he was and they were.
  23. Why any of you dins think Spurs have any serious interest in Pochettino, a mid-table manager in two countries, I'll never know. Spurs want someone to virtually guarantee 4th, Poch virtually guarantees eighth. If Poch ends up at Spurs it will be because at least three other candidates turned them down.
  24. If you want the greatest businessman that ever lived, then he don't come cheap.
