Well, they have been working very hard on the training ground. -

Christ. Lets not ever catch you discussing anything ever that has happened in the history of football before ten to eight on 4th May then. All pointless. You can't change it. -

You not "giving one" doesn't make a blind bit of difference either. Doesn't make the discussion pointless, though. -

A thread wondering whether our change of manager has improved/not improved our form is a "pointless argument" on that clubs forum? Really? What wouldn't be a "pointless argument", pray tell? -

I bet you do. Funnily enough MP was fortunate enough to inherit a team that had found its feet in the league and was getting great results and performing well. NA at the start of the Prem season had to do that leg work. Last 14/First 14 is far fairer as the team is more similar over those games. Lastly, one could easily argue, as Adkins influence diminishes over the weeks, the team is getting worse. We've scored one goal in five games. -
This. 100000% this. Bale has just scored, which will get the bellends going. We are safe.

Leicester. Down the road for me. And I know a few Leicester fans. And I like dear old Nigel.

...we've got Guly. It'll be fine.

André Villas-Boas rates Southampton youth set-up as good as Barcelona
CB Fry replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
There have been significant barren periods of Saints youth development, with Bridge and Oakley the only players of note for a decade or so back in the 90s. But lets gloss over that in our "balanced assessment", eh? -
Its got grey pinstripes too. Neither of those things makes our current kit a red and white kit.

Let's remember these are some complementary quotes from an opposition manager about us. But what the dins on here have honed in on is the fact he has dared to mention another club's academy in the same breath as us. Thankfully we have forum experts on hand who know the inner workings of WHU to tell us without question that Super Saints are much better than them. After all, multiple League title winning England internationals like Joe Cole, Frank Lampard and Rio Ferdinand are not fit to lace the boots of European Footballer of the Decade Alex Oxlade Chamberlain. -

When did I say we were a small club? All I actually said is another club on earth is allowed to have a heritage of developing young players. The fact that you see that as "belittling" sums you up. It's not belittling to note that another club is capable of producing young players. The world does not revolve around the SuperduperSaints. -
Alpine spends every day between England matches ranting about "I hope we don't qualify" until such point as we drop a point in a qualifying match when he goes apesh it because it then means we might not qualify. Total mug.

Not that odd as they have a long history of producing excellent young players. With loads of players that have gone on and actually achieved something. The SuperSaintsDoEverythingBest myopia is the only odd thing here. -

Joe Cole has achieved more than, say, off the top of my head, Theo Walcott or Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain. -
Maybe you should do it, with your "Saints are going to lose every game and go down" cutting edge thinking. You're just so radical and in touch with the modern game, you are.

Fascinating, although we haven't had a red and white kit this season have we? You have seen it, right?

Mauricio Pochettino: The Argentine at Southampton with big plans
CB Fry replied to thornhill_saints's topic in The Saints
Oh Dalek. What a card you are. Your little skits get funnier and funnier. This forum would be a much poorer place without your ham-fisted one-joke routines, that's for sure. Do the yo-yo stuff again! -

I'm a bit younger than you so I was more of an Askham man. That brilliant young team he put together in the 88 - 90 was the reason I became a Saints fan. The Askham Attack they were known as in Bellemoor school. Le Tissier was the main player. I forget the rest of them, but that was a Chairman on top of his game. I know it went sour after that but what memories we have of that early chairmanship. -
I'd just about settle for that this season. But I wouldn't want too many seasons like that. Completely underwhelming.

Chelsea were an established top six side having already won several trophies including two European trophies in clear living memory. Man City less glittering but still undeniably a big club and far, far bigger than us. And, they just happen to be in Manchester. Neither club were West Brom suddenly signing players and winning trophies from nowhere. Quite frankly, most players will not just sign for who pays the most. Ask Newcastle in the 1990s/early 2000s when they made various attempts to sign top level players. They bid more, and offered more salary, to Wayne Rooney. Guess where Wayne went? Nice try with the 1902 line. I give that 3/10.
-
It won't be their first priority, but signing for a big club in a big football city, rather than a medium sized club in a nondescript city would be a factor for all of those players. If you are suggesting all those players care about is money, are you suggesting that Saints are going to start outbidding City, Chelsea and Man United for players now?

City and Chelsea started off life as Manchester City and Chelsea, both former League Champions and multiple cup winners home and abroad.

It is stripes this season. Cortese said so. The Cult can see the stripes. Join them.
