  1. You mean like the loyalty shown by Norwich to Bryan Gunn? Lambert owes Norwich nothing. Adkins owes us none.
  2. Yet the Mega bucks striker didn't score as many goals as either of our 2 "budget" strikers in the same league last season.... Which budget strikers are these then? I can remember Lambert and Sharp playing for us but they both cost significant amounts of money.
  3. Just the £4m for 30plus trundling goal-every-five-games-or-so Zamora? Yes, jolly well done on that bargain of the century. Cisse? Never ever would he get anywhere near St Mary's. The day Saints start spending money like that on players like that is the day we have failed as a club.
  4. Norwich, Swansea, WBA and Villa could all be with new managers next season (well three of them definitely will). They can't all be runaway successes so all good for our prospects.
  5. Right. And Celtic fans affilated to PIRA total how many? Celtic Rangers is barely left/right let alone Marx/Fascist and certainly not compared to how much it is catholic/protestant.
  6. ...also the Irish troubles by proxy. Fascinated to know which ones are the Marxists? The Unionists or the Catholics?
  7. And I, for one, like it. Premiership is an appalling name. But I think it will take a decade to shift. By which time it will have been rebranded to the FacebookEuroMegaLeague. Which SolentCitySaintsFC will be reigning champions of. Anyway, is he in West Quay yet?
  8. Stalin was as far left as they come and he killed 20 million people. Not all lefties are Michael Foot. But I think fist pump/nazi salute is a grey area so get your general point.
  9. I remember being genuinely excited by us signing Prutton - he was the kind of player that was in all the "young players to watch" articles at the time and it felt like a genuine coup to sign him. In fact, I will feel just the same if we sign JR. Let's see how it pans out.
  10. From what I've seen, and his stats, he seems like a decent prospect. Good start to the season's business IMO.
  11. Obviously a little more difficult to do things on the quiet in the premier league, Nicola. Or even to not do things. Either way, we're in the papers.
  12. It's a shame the North West of England is so bereft of top flight football clubs.
  13. Quite like that. Don't like the red with white pinstripes thing. Hope we don't go down that route, never like the plain red kits, although loved the Denmark Hummell one, which did have quite a lot of red. For our first season back I hope we wear stripes. It's our thing. Give it a couple of seasons - say when we are Champions League regulars with a fanbase stretching to Truro - before we start "experimenting". Oh, and the kit should be - red and white stripes, black shorts, white socks. To much buggering about with that in recent times for my liking. Not red socks. Not black socks. Stripy socks at a push. But white really.
  14. DAB to FM really not that big a leap. Barely any cars have DAB so still think FM is preferable. That's the plum spot on Solent.
  15. Premier league. Or prem. Or just "when are the fixtures out". Not that hard tbf.
  16. Any of our jock-watchers think this Forster kid is any good? We need a keeper at least with potential to be equal to Kelvin by the end of next season. Nice to have an English keeper too. Just thinking lets see if we can really screw the hoops over.
  17. What's the inaccuracy in my post you are referring to and what's it got to do with biology?
  18. "Had he scored 51 goals in two Premier League seasons, he would be lining up for England against Norway tomorrow". Well yes, he would. But he hasn't. If my mum had balls she'd be my Dad.
  19. Absolutely. What better way to drum up more intrerest than the club seeding interested parties out to the press. If JR really does want to stay up north, maybe the club desperately need to flush out a northern club with some money to buy him. There's plenty of theories to work up. It's just funny that as soon as some club PR man says "nothing doing" then people assume that really is the end of it. How many times was Cesc Fabrigas not going to Barcelona?
  20. Possibly. Also possible the clubs are talking but have absolutely no intention of revealing anything officially yet. Club official rings journo, blabs off record, denies on record. Pretty common in all public arenas from politics to pop music. These things are not always just agents stirring and journalists making it all up.
  21. It's obviously not pure guess work. I do like the way that on here all journalists are liars and all club spokemen are the paragons of absolute truth. Let's see what happens but the one thing I am very comfortable is that story from the Lancs paper is not just made up out of nothing.
  22. Teeny tiny minnows Everton have sold 20,000 season tickets already I see. No doubt influenced by the fact they will be entertaining footballing megagiant SolentCitySaintsFC in the coming season.
  23. Possibly made more money per ticket but not neccessarily sold the most tickets we could have. But impossible to prove apart from fact that pretty much no other club does it our way.
  24. Don't forget, when we build a 45,000 seater stadium you won't be able to move for flexible ticket prices to bring the fans in. The "enlightened ones" told us so. Just like all those flexible ticket pricing initiatives this season when we had between seven and ten thousand empty seats to fill. Oh.
