Agreed. You can't make such bold statements when there are so many unknowns. After a half dozen games maybe, but not now.

I’m sincerely not trying to say this in a disingenuous way, but he reminds me of David Brent (only younger and in better shape). Let’s hope he’s a better manager!

Surprisingly, no. I guess I'm just interested in what's the most popular choice, especially in light of the damning publicity yesterday about betting companies and football. I'm not a fan of the shirt so won't be buying, but if I did then would go for the bank one.

Yeah, this remains the big concern in my head with JWP. How much of our weak mentality was on him as captain? I guess I'm pretty apathetic about whether he stays or goes, but on reflection, it would be sad to see such a long-serving player depart and it would be cool if he helped us back up next season. That for me would cement his status as a player on a similar footing to MLT and SRL.

All recent events have told me if that a departure isn't immediately forthcoming. It's not even July yet, so anything can happen in the next two months or so. Gut feel is that he'll be off if any established / top 10 team go for him, and I don't think anyone would begrudge him that (assuming the fee was right). On the flip side, no-one can doubt his commitment to Saints and that's why he's still featuring prominently. Definitely a case of carry on as normal unless told otherwise I'd say.

Damn. Came here with a bag full of Dyson jokes and they’ve all been done.

Yup, hence why I also mentioned milestones (England caps, that sort of thing) in case he stays there his whole career.

The thing with Tino is that I think most of us feel there is a really great player there, but we haven't actually seen it for any extended period of time. Therefore, some of us are probably valuing him based on what he has the potential to become with us, whereas others are basing it on the reality of what he's achieved to date. All things considered, I'd say £20-£25m wouldn't be an unrealistic price at this time, but I'd be whacking sizeable sell-on fees / milestones to that as he could well become a world class player in the future.

You need to be more specific. Walkers no, McCoys maybe, Monster Munch definitely!

Yes, but the club ended up offering everyone a free shirt so probably wasn't great commercially for them.

I purchased the blue and yellow flame shirts when Saints re-issued them a few years back. Not quite as good as the Admiral originals but still awesome!
-
Haha that's some League One style photoshopping right there.

Yes, you're quite right and they will never produce a kit that everyone likes. I know this is subjective, but last season's kits (especially the home and away ones) were absolutely bloody awful and for me were kind of the embodiment of the horrendous way the club was run from top to bottom by Sport Republic. They were so far off the mark with so many things, hence our humiliating decline. I don't like the new home kit at all, I think it's way off the mark and completely lacking in anything innovative. I'm sure we all agree though, that it ultimately doesn't really matter, as we just want the right decisions to be taken about the team. I still have little confidence about this, but have hope that lessons will be learned.
-
When did I say that? I said if the club can't get the kit right then what chance is there of them putting a winning side out. I don't think this is an unreasonable statement given the car crash that was last season (kits, team, transfers, pretty much everything come to think of it). pillock.
-
Agreed. The worry is that if the club can't get a simple thing like a kit right (again) then what chance is there of them putting out a winning side. I guess time will tell...
-
Yeah, agree with this. Conversely, it doesn't matter how good a professional you are, if you're perceived as being crap then fans have the right to boo you. I'm sure his massive salary would have numbed the blow of that happening.

What short memories you all have! Don't you remember how he masterminded the total annihilation of Newport County a few years ago? Mark my words, we will live to regret this day for many a year to come...

I still have mine too! As said, it will always be great as it featured in so many incredible goals. I also have one with MLT’s name and number framed in my house. 🙂
-
Yup, it’s the same reason I love the Pony ‘Tick’ kit. It’s fucking terrible but will always be the one Le Tiss scored his very best goals in.
-
One word, nostalgia!

You seem a bit on the fence with him. Do we keep or not?
