  1. What a stupid system, wanted 1 for me and the boy for his birthday on the 15th and have been signed in since 5.45 this morning to be told I'm in a queue and then eventually at 9.46 was told sold out, surely I must of been 1 of the first in the Internet queue? So looking for an adult and child if anybody got some?
  2. Hope he signs but his attitude towards bologna will come back and bite us in the future.....when he gets bored or another club comes in for him, expect trouble/strikes to force a move and if reports are true that his agent has given up his fee to make the deal happen then he is going to want to recoup that at some point, those boys don't like doing something for nothing.
  3. Have we got a star player?
  4. Staying in the prem is the only thing we should striving to achieve, all this talk of champions league, playing like Barcelona blah blah blah is frankly very cringy. Also saying 'we were playing wycombe a couple of years ago' or 'we nearly didn't have a club' or 'we are ahead of schedule on the 5 year plan' basically has no relevance to anything at the moment and is also defeatist and cringy. The facts are we have done well to get where we are in a short space of time,as yet we haven't done brilliant in the transfer market, apart from a few short spells we are struggling on the pitch and Adkins doesn't seem to have an answer to it or the ability to change it. If you are happy to plod along and struggle with a good possibility of relegation then change nothing, keep smiling, you'll probably be satisfied with the outcome. If you want us to stay in the prem and build on that success then changes need to be made and plans have to be re drawn. I know which I would prefer.
  5. Lol at all those that said we would beat Wigan, they are seasoned survivors who contrary to popular belief are well organised.....us on the other hand are Ill prepared for the fight at the moment and we look very disjointed and uncomfortable. A very stark contrast to the man city game. We need to learn quick or we will be left behind.
  6. The transfer window should shut 48 hours before the start of the season, all it does is unsettle players as well as clubs and causes all sorts of problems in preparations for the season.
  7. Agh venables, the people's choice, the great advocate of the plastic pitches back in the day,the wide boy of football.......the only good thing he's done for the game was to buy Pompey for a £1,they must of seen him coming!
  8. I think nobody would disagree with this,we were good,a lot better than what most people expected but the real point is we didn't get hammered by a 5,6 or 7 nil scoreline which would have really messed with the players heads and demoralised them for a few weeks if not months. We held our own under extreme pressure at times and tbh although we lost we have come out of it pretty much unscathed and the doubters and doom merchants on here and in the press are now singing our praises. Like many I predicted we would get thumped 4 or 5 nil,but to score 2 and come away with our helds held high sends out a message to the other teams in the league that we are just not going to roll over and let them beat us.
  9. Come on you beautiful red and white machine.....watching yesterday's games has given me renewed hope that we might just get something today and I don't mean a spanking,we've got nobody to fear apart from the obvious couple of big teams as the rest looked sh!te apart from a couple who had a good day, every dog has their day, today we could be that dog. Coyr
  10. My best mate is a skate and I met a couple of skates the other day who had only good things to say about us and their all time favourite player was the one and only letiss.
  11. I love Harry, looking forward to motd even more now
  12. No point in analysing the man city score,or the scores against any of the other big boys,Manu, arse, spurs etc etc as they are not the games we are expected to win. Wigan,Swansea,Norwich, hammers, reading, etc etc are the games I will be more disappointed in losing and if we do lose to any of the lower teams we know that either they have done better in the transfer market than us or we are just plain sh!t. Every lower tier team always manage to get a shocking result against one of the big boys so perhaps it could be our day but I'm going to go with 5-0 city.
  13. I'm with this, anybody who blames redknapp for our relegation need to think long and hard about it,Lowe was the problem....he didn't give Harry any money but expected him to perform miracles on a shoestring ,and all those who don't want him because of his Pompey connections need to grow up. Staying in the premiership is everything and to say otherwise shows no ambition,if Adkins is not upto the job then we need somebody who is.its obvious to everybody that something is not right at the club, either we can't attract the players we need because of cortese/Adkins or we are not willing to bow to the pressures of spending decent money, perhaps there is something else going on,who knows but what we do know is that we arent ready for the task ahead. Change is good,if it's not working then fix it,if you can't fix it then change it.
  14. Are you all saying that he shouldn't be sacked even if we are losing every week by large score lines and end up in bottom place with no hope of getting out of it? I would be bitterly disappointed if it didn't happen tbh,I would feel for the fella as upto now he's done a decent job,but to limp along with a manager who is out of his depth would be a silly thing to do.
  15. I can't believe it,those odds are crap.
  16. We are definately not prepared for the premiership and even if we manage to get a few good, experienced players in before Saturday then we will still be on the Back foot from the off......realistically,from the fixtures we have coming up we could be in serious trouble before winter even kicks in. I just hope that there are at least 3 teams who are even less prepared than we are otherwise st Mary's could become a very depressing place and our very inexperienced manager and squad will be under a serious amount of pressure real soon.
  17. I think our pre season friendlies have been more about trying to make money rather than getting the squad ready which seems a little odd to me.im not a fan of friendlies so I haven't bothered going to watch any but I gather not many others have bothered either so I suppose it's kind of backfired a bit. I'm with the bookies on our chances of staying in the prem but it could all change with 3 or 4 choice signings.

  19. The facts are Southampton fc is not an attractive proposition to any potential signings looking to improve their standing in the game and also their bank balance.....let's take a look at the points which will work against us - Nigel Adkins - although a decent enough manager he is virtually a green, unknown, untested manager with little or no decent contacts in the game. Wage structure - I'm just speculating but you could probably safely say that paying over £30k per week to a player isn't going to happen soon. Promotion - newly promoted to the prem with a good possibility we will get relegated. Current squad - virtually no prem experience at all and the new signings we have made are all from outside of the prem. IMO this all gives potential 'prem experienced' signings little or no confidence in us as a whole. Just like the bookies I have very little confidence in our ability to stay in the prem but this could all change with just one decent signing, this would probably have a snowball effect and if one decent player signs then a couple more will get the confidence to jump ship. Although I would have liked us to bed in some decent players earlier this was probably a bit ambitious with the euros and Olympics so I think there will be a flurry of activity over the next week or two and hopefully we will be part of it.
  20. He didn't do it in the championship so that's probably a good indication he won't do it in the prem......get rid I reckon and that will also stop those pesky kids from shouting ssshttteeeeeeeve every time he touches the ball. Most annoying chant of last season IMO.
  21. The way I see it is that we have in place a team of mostly untried/untested at this level players and that seems to be the strategy with the new signings, now this could go 1 of 2 ways, either it's going to bite us on the knob and get us shamefully relegated or it will be an element of surprise, much the same as Norwich or Swansea and keep us up. Spending big and buying experience doesnt always work, just look at QPR they spent loads and bought some good players but IMO they also paid too much for average players and they only just survived. I'm happy for us to pick the cream of the lower leagues but I'm convinced this won't be good enough,we need a mix of experience and raw untried talent and we need it fairly quick otherwise we could be in serious trouble before the January window even opens. IMO 3 experienced players need to join the ranks just to keep us afloat.
  22. Walcott is head and shoulders above anything we have here already and to all the loonies who say they wouldn't want him need to think seriously about their football knowledge. For him to come back here would certainly be a step up for us and a step back for him but stranger things have happened, after all personal happiness is probably more his goal these days over money.
  23. No,I predict we will get smashed in the first weeks, knocking the wind out of us,you lot on here will be calling for Adkins head and by Christmas we will be struggling, probably finish in the bottom six losing more games than we win....on a more positive note the sun is shining.
  24. I'm with you on this I'm old enough to remember those days and although I am happy with the signings we have made they don't seem to get me excited about the prospects of watching them play as it once did. Perhaps it's an age thing? I don't think we will see the likes of that 'Keegan type' signing ever again at our club but it would be nice to sign a couple of players that grab you by the nuts and make other clubs sit up and take note. I just hope the transfer policy we have doesn't backfire and send us straight back down.
  25. Perhaps his cousin kelvin could design our next kit
