  1. exactly what i think,he is not here for the money, well not in the short term anyway, he must be here to prove everybody wrong and try and put things right, only then will he reap the rewards........but it looks very unlikely that this will happen,in fact i am sure it wont. lowe obviously thinks it will happen and that is why he is blindly, foolishly and stubbornly clinging onto his plan. it should just be a matter of time before he realises that it cannot go on as it is,but he will hold on until it is too late,we will be virtually relegated and he will probably just walk away.
  2. ok fair enough but there are easier ways to make money for a man like lowe, anybody trying to make money out of us at the moment will end up hungry and homeless. i really cant see him doing it for the money,he may be doing it for the potential of earning money if the club get promoted but he really isnt doing anything to improve our chances of that.
  3. its nothing to do with age its to do with wages. old and cheap is good, old and expensive not good according to lowe anyway.
  4. do you honestly believe we would make a profit as a legue 1 club? if you do you must have the same illness as lowe:rolleyes:
  5. there is no money to be had unless we get promoted which will be very very very unlikely in our present form. he also could be hoping to broker a takeover for a nice fee i suppose but even that looks about as likely as promotion.
  6. it is flogging a dead horse. the life and spirit left a long time ago, there is nothing left of any real value, the debts are piling up and the majority want his nuts as earings, so what exactly is he getting out of being here? if rumours are to be believed he is only working part time, his shares aint worth a w@nk and whatever he does good or bad,he will always be unpopular. the bloke either has a screw loose or he likes the punishment. he might foolishly think he can pull a miracle out of the hat and turn the clubs fortunes around,he might even have an ace up his sleeve, who knows? (very unlikely) the facts are he has taken a job on that nobody else in their right mind (unless you are a multi millionaire) would ever touch,so why is he still hanging around. there has to be something in it for him and i refuse to believe he is doing it as some sort of crusade,or he is on a massive ego trip.his shares are virtually worthless and it doesnt look like he needs the money so why bother? why put your family and well being at risk for the sake of a failed football club.......it doesnt add up.
  7. sorry i dont agree,i think we all expected to struggle with what we have (manager and players) but not to the degree that we are seeing week in,week out. our goal this season should have been survival, treading water hoping that things will change for the better, anything else being a bonus, but we are not treading water,we are sinking and nobody at the club has hit the alarm button. a new manager could put some fire back in the belly of the players and the fans,it might not be the long term solution but it could just be enough to save our championship status. it is harsh to get rid of a manager after only a few months and it might be very short sighted but something has to be done very quickly otherwise we are going to run out of games to gain enough points.it isnt working out for jan,in another time it might have worked but we havnt got the luxury of time.we cant afford to have an inexperienced manager learning his trade/the english game on our time im afraid. survival should be a realistic goal with the resources we have shouldnt it? if not then i could do just as good a job as jan,i could take us down to L1 and as the club are so keen to save money then i would do it for half the money jan is on...........cant say fairer than that.
  8. i dont expect lowe thought it would pan out like it has and he may be forced to admit defeat, but i really think he is in it for the long term regardless of where it takes us. the most important thing to lowe is playing the youngsters, jan is willing to do that as he hasnt got a reputation to ruin but the majority of the decent managers out there would not do it,they couldnt do it so this is the reason why he will soldier on with jan.
  9. its only about a third of the money we made out of the manu game so it seems like a good investment to me,if true.
  10. ive watched it several times and his arm was up but his back was to the ball and i think.......think it touched the back of his head..............its a harsh decision but its over with now.
  11. didnt derby declare that they had already spent the parachute payments whilst in the prem trying to maintain their prem status, robbing peter to pay paul if you like? so the parachute payment would be classed as a debt, probably an interest free one to the owners.
  12. we did get 18 corners but the ref didnt want to upset ferguson.
  13. you have to have hope but tbh it was expected. losing against the best club team in the world and their ref is nothing to be ashamed of.it would have been nice for the kids to see saints score but the ref ruined the game before we got the chance.
  14. when he arrived we were told he paid his own compensation of £60K (75K EUROS) to his former club helmond sport. im not sure what his current salary is?? i can only guess it wouldnt be much more than £100k so if he stays for a year, something he has done at 3 of his last 4 clubs (that he has managed) then effectively he has only earnt maybe £40k for the year. perhaps he wants his money back before he decides to jack? unless of course it was all lies and the club paid the compensation?
  15. exactly,JP might be made aware of possible departures but not until the last minute,i can only see him having minimal say on who stays and who goes. ive got a feeling that the club dont see loaning out a player as actually leaving the club,in the same way as the government dont count people on jobseekers allowance as unemployed.
  16. population of southampton 234,224 population of derby 229,407 i would say they would be very similar at least, if not we would have the bigger fanbase due to our 27 years in the top flight (the only top flight club in the south for most of them)attracting a far more widespread fan. derby is set within a strong belt of clubs in the midlands who attract bigger crowds than them.
  17. anybody remember that very bad performance by curiosity killed the cat? it was a monday night game on sky,one of the first, with all the fireworks and other fancy sh1te going on. how did sky get to be so powerful with that sort of nonsense?
  18. saw this today.. http://www.footballtransferleague.co.uk/football_club.aspx?football_club=Southampton the midfielder was on loan at brighton, rated by leeds at about £1.5m so i guess that rules us out unless he would be coming on loan. dont know too much about him only what i read here.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bradley_Johnson do we need a midfield player?
  19. he was left in the stands because he was crap. and the bit about not playing the loan players is obvious bullsh1t as cork and pearce were regulars.
  20. if the new lad gets his chance i would like to see rudi playing left midfield with surman playing centre left midfield (his prefered position) the one he played yesterday.
  21. as reported today, derby could be about to be bought by a saudi arabian family. http://www.thisisderbyshire.co.uk/news/selling/article-584616-detail/article.html so why not us? we are a similar club,in size and fanbase,we both have fairly new stadiums (although im not sure what the debt is for derby) and they have owners (shareholders) who dont look like they want to sell. we have just as much,if not more potential than derby so where are we going wrong?
  22. i thought skacel gave up long before the end.
  23. i did ask the same question the other day http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=7483
  24. it is difficult to compete with the best team in the world and their ref.but saying that we dont compete with the teams in the bottom of our league.
  25. nice.its good to see people thinking for themselves.
