  1. if lallana is sold will we be forced to play 4-4-2 as my feeling is that lallana is being accomodated to play in that position just behind the front man. i cant see anybody else playing there so if he goes our options could become limited in the current system being employed. our system seems very rigid at the moment and doesnt leave a lot of scope for change so perhaps certain players being sold in january will force more flexibility on JP,unless of course JP's been told to accomodate players to put them in the shop window in which case he wont have a say anyway.
  2. i was thinking about offering my wife but i dont want to scare him off.
  3. if we were flying high in the prem and having a lot of success then we would still be a selling club,we would still have an academy churning out decent youngsters.....in fact we would probably sell a lot more youngsters than we do now because it would be harder for them to break into the first team but it would go fairly unnoticed because of our success. we have to sell to survive at the moment so any youngster showing the slightest bit of promise will be thrust (rightly or wrongly) into the shop window, this doesnt always work out as is probably the case with gobern but some of the youngsters mature quickly and become regulars. our academy is there to make money and anybody else who thinks otherwise is wrong.i have spoken to many people associated with the academy and they more or less say the same thing........the club is always on the lookout for the next big earner and they are ruthless in their pursuit.it is a good income stream for a club of our size especially a club in our current position.
  4. what id give to have him back.
  5. surely it must be working as we sold bale, walcott, bridge for millions. 'without kelvin in goal we would be miles adrift now'.......if my aunty had ****** she would be my uncle.
  6. i would imagine that surman and kd are valued about the same...maybe £3m and lallana about £2m.
  7. i could be wrong but i thought that jan was talking about all of the older players not being able to read what the youngsters wanted to do,i dont think anybody specific was mentioned.euell was mentioned in the same interview but it was unrelated to the above???? as i said i could be wrong? whatever was said i would like to think that we could keep hold of euell,he seems to add that extra bit of bite when he plays and he is not afraid to yell at the youngsters when they are not doing the right thing.
  8. isnt saga the only one who is returning? i thought rasiak and john were season long loans? anyway,i think there are a few change of conditions that will prompt a mass return, they are.... getting in an exciting proven big name manager,in the shape of strachan or someone similar. winning 10 games in row whilst playing exciting football, including the manu game. an announcement that we are on the verge of a billion pound takeover that removes wilde and lowe. signing 5 or 6 decent 'big name' players in january but as all of these things are very very unlikely the stay aways will just continue to stay away.
  9. no thanks, overated pretend hardman who stepped up too soon,he should have kicked around in the lower leagues for a few more years but decided he was ready for the bigtime when he clearly wasnt. blackburn have obviously played their part in his failure by employing him in the first place.....a case of the name being bigger than the managerial reputation. im glad we never employed him as i dont think he would have been any better than what we have already got and he would have cost 3 times more than what we have already got. the problem with saints fans is they are so desperate to cling to a 'big name' manager that they get blinded by the name.
  10. im glad wilde wont sell to him,i wouldnt want him back again.we need to stop this silly merry-go-round of the 3 major shareholders jumping into the hotseat as it is bringing this club to its knees.we need a fresh injection of new money and new ideas not the old lot taking it in turns to p1ss everybody off and not injecting any money.
  11. the problem is the season doesnt end now! we are only halfway through,ok things could get better but they could also get a lot worse.......believe me,i wish the season could have ended saturday and we were safe but it hasnt and we have to plod on hopefully gaining enough points to be safe before the end of the season preferably,if not safe when its all over..
  12. too true, you can bet your life that lowe has prepared himself for every eventuality, crouch making a move, wilde selling out or outside investment, lowe will be ready this time and he wont let his position go without a dirty fight.whoever wants the gig better have a baldrick style 'cunning plan' otherwise they might as well not bother. hopefully there is somebody out there but at the moment i just cant see it.
  13. im happy for lowe to leave asap, but just getting rid of him is not the answer....its not that simple.whilst he is a shareholder he will always be lurking in the background and tbh i dont think he will ever give them up unless he is on the bones of his arse or is forced to by a complete buy out a la manu. good luck with the campaign but it wont get you anywhere unless somebody is able to drive a wedge between lowe and wilde, unless this happens it will continue to be same old same old.
  14. probably but only if the club continue with the 6 months interest free option.if not i will still attend every home game just as a 'pay as you go' punter.
  15. i think if we were investable it would have happened by now. the truth is we are not investable, the deal is probably so complicated and debt ridden that only a fool or a billionaire would invest.i think there are plenty of fools but not enough billionaires. if lowe is the problem then what is the cure, because i cant see any cures on the horizon?
  16. well we played well in the first half against sheff wed and crap in the 2nd half so surely lowe should be praised for that or did he do the 2nd half chat that day...........jeez,some people.
  17. thanks norm,i dont mind doing my bit for charity but i fear after todays result the mods will struggle to get rid of them.:-)
  18. as the manu game looks likely to sell out and after the news that season ticket holders will get another crack at buying extra tickets this will leave many 'general sale' punters without a ticket. some have voiced their concerns that they fear tickets will be snapped up and sold at a profit and that tickets intended for home fans will end up in the hands of a manu fan or two. perhaps the mods could organise to buy a couple of kids tickets and a couple of adult tickets and either auction them off with the proceeds going to a worthy cause or even give the tickets to a couple of kids who wouldnt normally have the oppurtunity to go,or who maybe have a long term illness. this would make a refreshing change to the depression that lurks on this board on occasions and would give a couple of kids and their parent a great day out. im sure that something could be organised and im sure that we could all chip in to help out. after all it will only take 90 users donating a pound to pay for 2 adult and 2 kids tickets. it is the season of goodwill after all.
  19. looks like your postman is going then :-)
  20. good luck to him,if he wants a crack at the big time then why try and stop him.hope he does well if he goes. my warning to him would be that he is a medium sized fish in sh1tty mud pool at the moment, things may not be as green as he thinks on the other side.
  21. one of my sons recieved a present from the club today,a goody bag! nice touch from the club for a change and he is over the moon. its not a lot but it obviously goes a long way to keeping the youngsters happy. well done sfc. anybody get them?
  22. the answer is yes, they do. when i got arrested at pompey (relegation season),the cctv could zoom in on what individuals were saying/singing.but i think the system has its limitations,i dont think it can pick out a voice from too far away........which was a good thing for me :-) so i would imagine that all of those arrested were closer to the cctv camera,i also believe that lip readers were probably used to pinpoint what was being said.
  23. if sol is not gay then why is he getting upset by it? how can they arrest a handful of people when probably hundreds were singing it. this type of abuse has been directed at sol for years, probably by every club he has ever played against, and i believe he gets his fair share of racist chants aimed at him on international duty........so why has this only been jumped on now?....the answer is redknapp owned the copyright to the song and he wasnt paid his royalties.
  24. im all for playing 2 upfront, and i would also like to see lallana playing in that 'peter beardsley' type role that was so effective, this was hinted at the other night by one of the commentators and i think it could work, but as you say,our current system seems to be set in stone and it doesnt look they are willing to change it.
  25. problem is they are fed this sh1te by the coaching team etc and they start to believe the hype.it is never going to happen but they should be told the facts, its harsh but how else are they supposed to know they are sh1te. if you are told you are not performing as you should then it gives you the oppurtunity to put things right,if you have your ego massaged at every turn, which includes getting an unjustified long run in the first team then how the hell are you to know you are not any good. i know our options are limited but i think McG has had his chance, time for somebody else to have a go.
