As he stormed down the tunnel after being subbed he threw a Boufelesque type strop too.

That was panic buying by a new (bent) manager and we were in a relegation position. Hardly today's scenario.

This time last year we had just beaten Arsenal 4-0 and were soon to sign Austin. We were about to turn a corner but frankly I don't currently even see a corner coming under Puel. The squad and the club in general need a lift. But going by the noises coming from the manager's lips and the silence from the Board there is little on the horizon in terms of positive news. Perhaps we are being greedy - after all we have come a long in 6 years!!!!
-
You've long surpassed that ambition, it's just you haven't realised it yet.
-
Hmmm it all depends how much money is made available. If it's for example £10m then yes it is impossible to improve on what we already have. So are we tightening our belts? Are we being too cautious or just very prudent? Are we happy with just treading water content with an empty trophy cabinet and a healthy bank balance? All questions that only a genius or clairvoyant could answer. Cue CB Fry!

To be fair to Forster I don't think he could have saved any of those goals last night but he does need to be braver off his line
-
they had the best of the luck that was going, but even with 11 men I don't think we would have even snatched a point. Their players are better than ours. The days of us turning over the big boys are on the wane more's the pity, as money talks louder and louder.
-
Yea bad decision but by then we were already looking second best so let's not blame the dodgy pen decision on the fact it was men against boys. We started with 9 Prem players tonight. Ward_prowse and Redmond are Championship standard at best.
-
Well let's just give up then should we? They are better than us and we should just accept it?
-
I hate slagging him because he is a good honest lad who has intelligence but to be brutal he is not, and never will be a Premiership player and you can say the same about Redmond. Reed has a fetish about the Academy that is not helping us progress. Its great to produce young players but there are times when they are simply not good enough.
-
Redmond and JWP are simply not Premiership standard. Nice lads and all that but tonight they had 11 players and we had 9. The sooner SFC get over their Academy fetish the better. We believe our own hype to our detriment.

Europa League 2016/2017 (Died 8/12/2016)
Fitzhugh Fella replied to ScepticalStan's topic in The Saints
I'd stick to supporting Newport if I were you, more in line with your horizons if you honestly think we performed adequately in the Europa League. Prague and Be'er Sheva are Championship standard at best. -
He ain't coming so the debate is superfluous.
-
With all this likely rotation the lads will be raring to go come May.

CB Fry team up with Trousers = Formidable wit
-
Reed Flanagan Stephens Hesketh Olomola Barnes Sims etc have hardly been flogged to death so far this season.
-
Well done for going and ta for the report back
-
Is that the best you can do? You sound like a third rate Trousers.
-
Europa League = Checkatrade Hierarchy not really bothered despite the club's pre-match media hype.
-
Barnes and Seagar both back in full training and what about Olomola. This is our U18 side without a doubt.

Protests court publicity that's a fact of life and will take place at public places. That includes sporting arenas. Apartheid in S Africa was defeated and sports boycotts played a significant part. I dare say the white S Africans didn't like their stadiums and sports men and woman being targeted but it had the desired effect. You lot are just being insular.

Yea my views on Lowe (since slightly tempered - he meant well) earned me quite a few enemies. As for Palestine I believe Israel is conducting an illegal form of apartheid and should be brought to task. I know the Palestinians are not 100% blameless and should accept Israel's right to exist but what has happened in Gaza is shocking. I have met some great Jewish people (equally horrified what is going on in Gaza) so would not to condemn Israel in general but the politicians on the right have created a situation that is unacceptable and I admire those who protest. Hope you have a good trip
-
Slight exaggeration maybe but if you checked out the après match Stoke thread there weren't many with a good word. But football is fickle when we win we're up and when we lose we're down.
-
Nah I have more faith in the Board than you. Guy Askham maybe I would have my doubts but I am sure Ms Liebherr would not sell us short. She's come too far and so have we.

Amazing how one game can change perspectives totally. Two days ago we were desperate to sign at least one striker and most on here were baying for J Rod to be sent on loan. Delighted for him as I am, we still need to replace Austin in January as I still think J Rod is a work in progress. We signed Billy Sharp in the Jan and his goals got us over the line.
