Duncan, I think you are describing 21st century football in general. The names of the clubs may be the same. The older fans go along believing they still support their club. But everything else has changed. Change is inevitable and we can't go back... Even if you start again you will soon get caught up in the commercial machine. I think we have to accept this and make of the new way what we can. I was really sad about the game Saturday as it makes what I just said more stark. I dont believe that Qatar has requested it to be moved, delayed or have stated any concern with their commitment to meet the tender that was agreed. I think you will find that this is International footballs governing body thinking through the consequences of their decision after the decision has been made. Particulary the playing a tournament in 50 deg c issue. Every country had the right to bid....they did and won, and some of the other comments around how they won are pretty naive There has been talk about spreading it across the region because as was mentioned earlier this really is an area where people love football.

What have we learnt so far

Midfield can't hold ball. When we have it we are making simple mistakes leaving players isolated and out of position and defence is too deep allowing 4 players to run at us. Apart from that we look really well organised. (gallows humour)

It's a great question who would you pick and who would you be excited about as a replacement for Adkins if he did go? It's quite easy to say let's make a change then you start seeing the flaws of all the replacements. I would far rather see somebody with real premiership defensive coaching ability come in and support Adkins cos then we could see whether we could get this lot going first without making the drastic managerial change. The result may also be quicker. The question then becomes who has the premiership defensive coaching talent that could make a difference
