Jesus, I can't believe he died, he wasn't that old. The 'interest' in Saints was completely made up by certain board members, but FFS, cancer is sh*t.
-
Agree on the well done Southgate thing! I've gone from despising England and the morons who played for the team (definitely "club before country") to admiring this new England team and style and enjoying it more than Saints. Having said that, I didn't even realise England were playing Croatia the other night ... one might assume that due to no crowd, the media played it down.

You hideous bellend.
-
I know he is. Read what I wrote. The original post was about signing players over 30, we have those (i.e. Davis, Long), but what we don't have is a leader - Cahill was an example that fits in the Venn diagram for both brackets; a proper leader who is only 27 probably wouldn't be affordable for Saints.
-
So you would have said no to Jimmy Case, Alan Ball and various 'lesser' old pros like Venison and Beresford who helped keep the club up? There are loads of examples of older pros who Saints have signed to come in as leaders and help the younger players, it was the old "Southampton way" and the club should probably look to do that. The team is crying out for leadership. Again, someone like Cahill would be ideal. Who cares if he's after a last decent contract? The club can still build up other players to sell.
-
I don't think it's necessarily players over 30 the team needs, it's players with leadership experience; a Cahill for example would add a huge amount of skill and presence to the team and is someone the other players would look up to

Saints 0-3 Chelsea - Match + Reaction
Patrick Bateman replied to Hamilton Saint's topic in The Saints
He's not even a cracking left back any more ... he's been going through the motions for th past 2-3 years now. -
I turned it off. Fed up with the Sky/BBC/general media love in. F**king tedious.

Who cares about these little w*nkers. Reference to the excellent Roy Keane, who speaks sense yet again; https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/11517299/roy-keane-blasts-manchester-united-cry-babies

The only thing consistent with him is that every season, Liverpool win his league. Liverpool's immediate opponents happen to be Chelsea at the moment, so they'll lose 5-0 away to Saints, ensuring his league, in his weird head, has Liverpool clear ...

Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester
Patrick Bateman replied to ChiefScummer's topic in The Saints
I don't think Vestergaard is awful, I think he needs a MUCH better pairing. -
Wolves 2 Saints 0 - Match & Meltdown Thread
Patrick Bateman replied to Shroppie's topic in The Saints
We'll probably see Bednarek, Yoshida and Gabbiadini play in the cup ... and win. -
Benitez (fallen out with Newcastle now) or Rodgers (getting more fed up at Celtic) will do.
-
Newcastle and Benitez want to part company ... he'll do.

There is Some Logic Behind Why I'm Worried About This Season
Patrick Bateman replied to vrotherham1964's topic in The Saints
Yes, because the team still played like sh*t in the 2nd half and the subs were still wrong and there was still no leader on the pitch. A 2-1 win would've been luck. -
They're deluded 'bin dippers', typically. It'll be 8 or 9-0.
-
Yes - as a one off. But that one off should be an important game not vs bloody Brighton
-
£22.50 burger (!) and some crap pyrotechnics. Top flight football is rubbish.
-
Great first half, really very good. Good play, players up for it, first to most balls and recovering the few mistakes they made. Obviously a disgustingly bad half time team talk and they come out looking like the team we've been suffering for the last year or so. Dreadful, no guts, no fight, second to most balls, more mistakes and that was then backed up my dreadful substitutions. I'm not anti-Hughes, but that wasn't good from half time to the end of the match.
-
Absolutely. For those in North Hampshire it's Fleet Town vs East Grinstead Town in FA Cup qualification & Fleet could really do with a few more paying visitors currently.
