  1. I believe both Eastleigh and Havant & Waterlooville are planning massive ground expansions...
  2. No, why, was the b******d shorting them?
  3. What? CB Fry? Never! As to the national unity business you could always take Italy; unified in the 1860s but still very regional and with such localism that there is the word 'campanilismo' after the bell tower of each small town. Can't remember the national holidays off-hand, but there were local ones as well (S.Ambrogio at Milan, for example). The World Cup tends to be a far better unifier mind.. I used to go to my local bar with an England flag - all very tongue in cheek - and an Italian one with a wry smile as soon as we'd been knocked out... Personally I think May Day should get more prominence: apart from the capitalist rentiers amongst you we are all workers/ex-workers and May day has a long tradition. I know some people who go out at dawn to Morris dance and generally celebrate the spring. I've joined them in the past for a breakfast pint around 8, which is about as early as I can manage.. I don't dance but know loads of traditional tunes, and it's always the people like BS who give the most grief to people who have the temerity to do traditional dance and music.
  4. They certainly do, as they do in Italy (and I've even bought horse escalopes in an Italian Lidl), and the price is certainly no lower than beef. If it has been claimed to be beef perhaps that is to avoid checks on potential veterinary residues more likely to be in horse?
  5. It's the way you tell'em VFTT...
  6. As usual it's the over-the-top reactions that annoy me. We've a sound defence, as the stats prove, playing with a third choice keeper and a depleted midfield away from home against an in form side. Although Gazzanigga doesn't fill me with confidence he's not "a Wessex League keeper" and all the other similar criticisms. He handled the back pass badly, but it was hit hard and with spin and he should probably have taken a touch before trying to boot clear. He came out well for that high ball before the end where he got clattered, but held onto the ball well when he came down hard. Incidentally, why did the ref give a bounce ball seeing as play stopped with the keeper in possession? I thought maybe MP was resting Lallana (and Morgan) and drawing the sting out of Newcastle in the first half, with both those changes perhaps anticipated from the beginning. When you consider Newcastle only scored through two defensive errors - allowing the header and then not clearing - it was nearly a succesful policy.
  7. No, you don't understand Ohio - those aren't blows, they're heart compressions to get him going again.. The fact that she hasn't noticed a muddy football sock has been shoved in the mouth is just a little short-sighted.
  8. We'll no doubt get a full, unbiased report from The9 in due course...
  9. Tee hee, that was very naughty Phil; let's just hope the usual suspects don't descend on this thread!
  10. Well, I've just had A Good Stuffing or two, nice and cheap, down my sailing club (Wells and Youngs Brewery). I've some Bateman's Rosey Nosey and quaffing bitter from Brakspears in the house. I'm keeping the bottle of Hambledon Vineyard Method Champenoise for New Year, but there's a bottle of Cava in the fridge. Choices off the shelf, er... bench. What you don't want to do now is listen to a geordie commentator, so maybe I'll give merry Dave a miss. Keep the match thread up-to-date boys...
  11. I know Fitzhugh Fella - I shall find out who you are when he has a moment of weakness... probably in the pub after a game. I'm certainly not risking going to Cosham..
  12. Managerial musical chairs! What happens when the music stops?
  13. **** me. CB Fry and Turkish arrive on a thread, and off they'll go laughing at their own straw man arguments. MLG may be like having the most boring teacher at school, but those two are like two little boys causing trouble from the back and thinking themselves so grown up. I'm not particularly interested in QPR, so their plans evoke only mild interest, but the reactions/arguments/wording from the two are far more boring and tiresome than MLG's factual stuff.
  14. Trousers, it's just you looking for something to amuse you on your morning commute.. I'm sure we'll see something in this afternoon's edition of the News...
  15. Went to footie training tonight and the boyfriend (not a Pompey fan) of one of the girls said he had a few mates who were arrested for fighting, (in the ground, he said). Drink was involved it seemed, as the guy was sick in jail, and then turned up and played footie for this guy's team the following day rather the worse for wear. Sounds a bit handbags to me..
  16. A try and fail on his part, then. Still, it confirms me in my previoous opinion of him..
  17. We have to put up with him all the time! :-)
  18. I can't find my photo of Fratton Park atm, but at the recent women's international a seat collapsed underneath one of the girls from my team. Of course, it _may_ have been replaced by now..
  19. Even more lolage. Now off down a local social club where they'll be quite a few Pompey fans... Not that I'm really the WUM type. /demure smile
  20. Hat-trick for Gallagher, even if he didn't know much about it!
  21. 3,814 attendance: not bad at all!
  22. Ha ha, the commentary team have just noted that even if the Pompey fans leave early many of them have come by coach... "bit of fighting amongst themselves"..
  23. At half time Harrison Reed predicted 5-0. :-) Well, we've reached it already!
  24. Think I'll type this up ready to press send. 4-0! At half time Harrison Reed predicted 5-0. :-)
