I suggest we waste less time castigating the board and ill advised 'promises' and more on envisaging/supporting a new team and formation. Can't help but think we're looking at the wrong guy here. I think Townsend isn't the player Lennon is, or at least would not be able to supply the kind of raw pace we need that Lennon could. But both are big time charlies who would sulk even more than Schneiderlin. The answer is to let Schniederlin go for £25m and get Clasie in, alongside Toby A in defence and AN Other zippy winger. Possibly.
