It's our lack of winnable home games that will see us down IMO, playing teams around us away gives us a chance but under this manager I can't see us getting enough wins from that lot.
-
Whilst it's bound to have teething problems I think it is great. Should help the smaller club's like us get marginal decisions at the big grounds where refs are under so much pressure to give it to the home side. No way would Rochdale have had that Spurs goal disallowed if it wasn't for VAR - it was obviously the correct decision and usually the ref would have pussied out.

How good do you think Saints squad is?
aintforever replied to Bit of a plonker's topic in The Saints
Playing one or two upfront is fine, it depends on the players. I'm not sure Long, Gabbiadini or Austin are at their best as a lone striker. Pelle and Lambert it suited. -
Training is bound to be more hard work when you give a sh!t about how well you play. c*nt.
-
I think Milliband changing the rules puts a stop to that happening again.

There has been bits in the papers, plus some ITK on here reckoned they were looking for a new manager over a month an ago. It is of course just speculation though, just like your theory of him not dithering.
-
I think he’s probably dithered, there is no way of proving either way though of course - all we all do is speculate.
-
Don’t disagree but the important fact is that there is a myriad of different ways to get news nowadays be it social media, online, TV or print. Very different from my Dad’s generation who only got their news solely from the daily paper and the news at Ten. All news is biased to a degree but what you read on the BBC is a million miles away from a newspaper telling you to “turn the lights out if Labour win”. Wether it is right or left wing, that sort of journalism seems really dated.
-
Totally agree. Lowe got Strachan out of the managerial scrap yard. Hoddle was bargain basement as well at the time as well I think because of his dodgy bible bashing views.
-
Only managers on the scrap heap would be interested in the Saints job at this stage of the season. Thank's to Les' dithering we are left with a choice of two massive gambles - Stick with Pelligrino or take a punt on someone with a sh!t CV who has nothing to lose.
-
I agree. In past elections it could be fair argument that opponents have been 'brainwashed' if their only source of news is one biased newspaper. Going forward this will be less and less of a genuine argument and new generations should be much more balanced and open minded as the opinions of the press become more and more of an irrelevance.
-
Many people are though. I think to an extent we are all influenced by what we read. The print media is a dying breed and I also think reading obviously biased reporting a dying concept as well - It's just a by product of a dated red vs blue political system where people just want to read something that makes them feel more comfortable with their own bigoted views.
-
I guess it's mainly the oldies who are mostly influenced by the print media nowadays - It will be interesting to see how the younger generations will vote. I rarely buy newspapers anymore and kids nowadays will buy even less. When I did look at the papers around election time I found the biased reporting on both sides just laughable - but especially the smears aimed at Corbyn. I don't get why people read stuff that is so obviously biased - surely you read the news for news, not someone else's politically biased bullsh!t?

FA Cup Qtr Final Saints v Wigan or Man City AWAy

Or Oldham away suddenly becomes a really popular fixture? -
To be fair to Corbyn, staying in the customs union is the only way to sort out the NI border issue. Wether it is worthwhile leaving will depend on what sort of deal can be struck.

Looked pretty clear that he handled outside the box to me. -
Too late for that, we just need points now. Any decent manager will look at our remaining fixtures and run a mile. Fail to win Saturday and we are down regardless of what the board does afterwards.
-
This is simply a must win if we are to stay up after dropping points at Burnley. I would go: ————————— McCarthy ———-————— Cedric —— Stephens —— Hoedt —— Bertrand ————— Lemina ——— Hojbjerg ————— ——— Sims —— Boufal —— Redmond ——— ——————-——— Carrillo —————————

Despite being relieved to get the equaliser a draw is not a great result given our situation. Our run in is a nightmare, we need to be building up a cushion not just barely keeping our heads above water. -
Go down and this Chinese **** is going to rip the club apart to try and get his cash back

Surely the Argie **** has to get the bullet after this ****e?! -
There has been a bit of an improvement but the most worrying thing for me is that our only wins have come against really poor opposition and only the Everton win was convincing, all the others we seemed to be hanging on by the skin of our teeth. Saturday will be a good test of where we are. Burnley are out of form and in that mid table comfort zone so we should be looking to get 3 points.
-
**** me, what happens if Hoedt and Stephens pick up knocks? £50mill profit in the window as well - it's kamikaze stuff.

Bring back four Saints players and a manager to save our season.

But I would include them, easily good enough to keep us up in their Saints form and worth a fortune in a few years time.
