I’ve got mates who are not Saints fans but go to St Mary’s, and Fratton when they were in the Prem. One is actually a Pompey fan but because his kids want to watch Premier League games he has to take them to see Saints which is **** funny.
  2. Well that’s a start. Even if it’s bull**** at least someone is saying something.
  3. Good to see Gao has his finger on the pulse of the important issues at SFC. Should be great preparation for the physical demands of the Championship, a few friendlies against a bunch of 5ft tall Chinamen.
  4. They are not deliberately cheating but there are always decisions where there is a degree of doubt and there is more pressure on them to give the decision in favour of the bigger club. Not sure wether it is getting worse or not but I think it is vital for clubs like us that VAR is introduced, that won’t stop the bias but should definitely help.

You always have these problems at these big games when the fans are all mixed up. Some fans like to stand up, sing and swear, others like to sit in silence with their thermos and Tupperware- there is obviously going to be a conflict. It would make sense if the club nominated a certain few blocks for the boring, family types - it would make it a better experience for everyone.
  6. Surely it’s the clubs that decide how to sell their tickets? Chelsea fans have been able to buy two extra tickets per membership all week.
  7. You are just making stuff up now, what happened over Iraq doesn’t mean our government are purpetual lying scumbags but the fact that they lied before means that it is possible that they may lie again. No doubt you were taking the **** our of the mad conspiracy loons who suggested that WMDs didn’t exist in Iraq? You often never know the full truth of what happens in war so I don’t have a problem with the strikes on Assad but that still doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do all you can to find as much evidence as possible. The idea that it was a British false flag is nonsense but who knows what is going on in Syria. There are so many different groups in conflict and many in desperate situations - if chemical weapons ended up in the hands of the wrong people who knows what can happen.
  8. **** me, just because one doesn't believe everything our government says doesn't mean they are are on anyone's side. It doesn't make you a conspiracy loon to want to question the evidence, it just makes you intelligent enough to realise there are a lot of people with different agendas. By your rationale, everyone who was correct about Iraqi WMDs was on the side of Saddam Hussain.
  9. We're more likely to stay up than win the FA Cup.
  10. Just logged in and there is a massive block of £80 tickets still available in the lower tier at the front, 1 block away from the dugouts. Tried to buy an extra ticket but it's not letting me because I already have one on my number - ****ing nuts. Whoever runs the ticket office needs sacking.
  11. Yep, looks like the current bottom three are gone. When you need to win twice just to catch up at this stage of the season it is curtains.
  12. Most expensive semi final ever: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/03/21/fa-accused-shamelessly-milking-supporters-revealing-hiked-prices/ Chelsea still havn’t sold out despite people behind no able to buy two extra tickets from yesterday.
  13. He's been charged. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43796756
  14. yes, mainly because I don't trust Reed and co to find anyone better. If we are going to bounce back up we are going to need a strong manager and Hughes at least has the experience, and there will be a little bit of stability - he will have a slightly better idea about who to keep and who to get shot of than someone brought in over the summer.
  15. Because it is their ****ing job.
  16. If we are 3 points from safety come final day we are down anyway. Nightmare scenario would be we are 1 point above both of them come final day with a slightly better goal difference, they play out a draw and Man City puts 5 past us.
  17. To be honest whilst I am going I am not really feeling the magic of the cup, probably because we have not beaten a single half decent side this season let alone a side as good as Chelsea. I’m clinging to the hope that as it the cup, apparently ‘anything can happen’, deep down though I know that we are just going to get butt ****ed live on TV and go home miserable.
  18. I dunno, Burnley and Palace at home is a good chance for them to pick up points.
  19. The whole situation in Syria is ****ed. From what I can see is it can only be resolved in two ways, 1. Go to war with Russia, or 2. Sit down and talk with Russia. Throwing a few missiles at Assad is not going to achieve anything with regards to the outcome of the war, though I agree with it in principle if he did carry out the gas attacks - which looks most likely.
  20. I assumed a West Ham win would be best but looking at their run in it might be good to suck them in even if it means dropping below Stoke for a bit.
  21. Just went on the site and it still says members can only buy 1 ticket. There is going to be thousands of empty seats yet the club are still putting restrictions on who can buy only a few days before - ****ing idiots.
  22. Cortese back? Great idea - all we need first is a billionaire owner willing to throw his money around because the dwarf couldn’t get out of the club quick enough when he found out he was going to have to work to some sort of realistic budget.
  23. Think Toon Saints post sums up our current position perfectly. As for the 3 worst decisions ever, I would go with: 1. Persisting with Pelligrino for so long whilst our Premier League status disappeared before our eyes. It was madness to let him carry on through December but to give him the transfer window, let him blow £20mill on one of his pals, then sack him after the window shuts giving the new guy little chance to change anything makes no sense at all. 2. Appointing Wigley. A crazier appointment than Pelligrino, complete lunacy that this guy was Putin charge of a Premier League football club, ike this season he ****ed up all the winnable home games causing our relegation. At least Lowe acted a bit quicker in sacking him though. 3. Appointing a rugby coach as director of football. I have no issue utilising expertise from other sports but the way Lowe implemented this was nuts.
  24. Same here. I’m not putting another penny into the club until the owners at least have the decency to explain their reason for buying the club and what their plans are.
  25. Everything you need to know about the black box here: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2717975-inside-the-southampton-black-box-informing-their-manager-carousel Some classic mastorbatory bull**** from the clowns in charge at Our club. “Southampton have deliberately cultivated a system that mitigates a manager’s importance, ensuring continuity that can outlast any boss’ tenure. "One of the mistakes many clubs make is they don't commit to a strategy and move the goal posts all the time," Ross Wilson, Southampton's Director of Football Operations and one of the club’s most senior decision-makers, explained ” “At Staplewood, Southampton's £40 million training centre nestled in the leafy Hampshire village of Marchwood, lies the club’s "black box." This room, which only Southampton’s inner circle have permanent access to, is the centrepiece of the club’s forward planning. "It enables us to present a lot of information in a way that keeps everything clear, on message, structured," Wilson said. The black box contains a live database of data and video highlights from European leagues that the club monitor. The rationale is simple: to allow Southampton to identify suitable players to sign.” “The list is always evolving and always current," Wilson explained. Southampton invariably know who they want to sign in the next transfer window. Around 20 players are tracked in each position at any one time, and there is a shortlist of four or five primary targets for each position.” “Reed has a dossier of potential coaches that is constantly updated, with intelligence on those considered the best fits for Southampton—especially handy when managers leave during their contracts, as happened in 2014 and 2016. There were only nine days between Puel's being sacked and Pellegrino's being confirmed as his replacement, showing how the dossier enables the club to act decisively in appointing new managers.” “Pellegrino was identified as a manager in keeping with the "Southampton Way" for his track record of promoting young players and playing attacking, technically proficient football. From his time in Spain, Pellegrino is also well-versed operating as part of a wider executive structure like that at Southampton. Any new manager "needs to be a fit to the philosophy of that organisation or that football club," Wilson explained. "When we appoint a manager here, we want that manager to be somebody that fits in with what we do here." This continuity of approach also ensures that existing intelligence gathered through the black-box will remain useful for the new boss.”
