I expect it's more a case of Kat having sold Saints to Gao as an established Premier League club run by a couple of sporting geniuses. Les and Ralph's first act under their new boss was to convince him to spend his money sacking a perfectly good manager. Since them they have been busy trying to explain to Gao how he doesn't need to worry about the league table, it's merely a temporary issue caused by having one of the World's best defenders in the squad.

Does anyone know what has happened to Redmond? He's gone from teachers pet to not even in the squad, I guess he's injured or something?
-
Not to mention his history of corruption and bribery.
-
Nonsense. All the other clubs down there have changed manager. From a finance point of view a managers pay off is minimal - it is certainly not cost effective to keep a bad manager given the consequences of relegation, or even the loss in prize money for league position. Something is not right at the club. I wouldn’t be surprised if Reed and Kruger hate the new owners and just want to be paid off.

When would you have pulled the trigger on Pellegrino?

At the very latest you need to get a new manager in at least a few weeks before the transfer window opens, give him time to assess the squad and allow a bit of time to see if there is a reaction from the players before you spend. We've left it too long to attract anyone decent and give whoever we hire a decent chance of keeping us up. Plus we've just blown £19m on a mate of Pelligrinos. It's a complete clusterf@ck. -

Kat has sold us down the river, we still know little about Gao and his plans -he could easily do a 'Pompey' with us and leave us a shell of a club. He's borrowed £200mil for a club that will probably be worth £50mill max if we go down. Championship clubs don't make money, I'm not sure how he's going to get his money back on his investment - either a quick return to the premier or transfer the loan to the club and asset strip to pay it off?
-
You get the feeling that without Marcus' millions and Cortese's decision making Reed is ****ing clueless.
-
We get a £75mill windfall yet virtually all the other relegation candidates sign more players than us. Something is seriously ****ed up at our club
-
If we are not going to bother to strengthen the squad then surely there has to be a change of manager?
-
It defys all logic how this clown still has a job.
-
Now surely we can go on and win this now
-
Get the **** in
-
What is the point in spending £19mill on a new striker then playing Long on his own up front? Something is really ****ed up at our club.
-
**** me we are ****
-
Awful, considering this is what was fed to the press after VVD sale: "The structure and timing of the transfer reflects Southampton’s desire to now make major signings of their own and they are committed to reinvesting the entire fee. They hope to add an attacking player next week and are also lining up other deals."
-
Is there anyone on here who wanted Puel out who now regrets it??
aintforever replied to OldNick's topic in The Saints
Of course sacking Puel and hiring the clown was a **** up - what a stupid thread. -
Yeah, because wasting a whole month trying to get two targets we couldn't get is a great performance from our DOF.
-
It's just bull**** excuses, surely we have other targets not just Promes?
-
If that's our window done then we are ****ed.
-
Pellegrino out? Or are we resigned to keeping him?
aintforever replied to SaintJackoInHurworth's topic in The Saints
Think they have left it too late now, not sure if anyone with a decent CV would want the job if our situation gets any worse. -
Think we need to accept that we are not going to get value for money. We've just sold a player for £75mill and are staring relegation in the face - we're going to get fleeced whoever we buy. No point being tight fisted and end up relegated.
-
I'm sure the magical black box has a long list of other targets we could get?
-
Consistently breaking our transfer record..
aintforever replied to mynameisthehulk's topic in The Saints
Wasn't our previous record buys Gordon Watson then David Hurst? -
I expect it is meeting the release fee that is the problem.
