It's still risky flogging your best players, whoever makes the decision. You can spend £20-30mill on a player in today's climate and they can still be a failure. The squad needs investment even if we keep Tadic, sell him and we will really be rolling the relegation dice again.
-
Was still or best player under our current manager and I whilst not perfect I don't have a lot of faith in Reed/Wilson landing a replacement as good.

That's the best thing about VAR - it shows up the incompetent fools for what they are. The dickhead who refereed last night can't hide behind the 'didn't see it' excuse. There will always be wrong decisions regardless of VAR and the quality of ref. VAR has worked well so far IMO, last nights mess was due to FIFA's obsession with picking refs from tin pot leagues around the World who cannot handle it when dumped into the big stage. He didn't have the confidence to trust his own decision above VAR and didn't have the bottle to send off a megastar.
-
And Labour go missing again.
-
Nothing wrong with VAR, it doesn't matter how much technology you have if the ref is useless.
-
Looks like they gave an owner who actually wants to invest. Won’t be long before they are way ahead of us if the current trend continues IMO.

Agree, has got to be worth 20+ in today’s climate. 15 mill is a decent Championship player.
-
£15 mill is **** all nowadays- I wouldn’t sell for that.

I'm no fan of Trump, it's bizarre that he was even close to being elected yet alone made president. But credit should be given where it's due - it has to be good to hold talks with North Korea. Also ISIS have been taking a beating recently so I guess he should take some credit for that, though there are obviously many other influences in that region. The problem is everyone is so obsessed with the left v right, red v blue ******** they refuse to give anyone for the 'other side' any credit. Hell would freeze over before any Labour nobhead congratulates Trump on anything, likewise as the post above says, if Corbyn had met Kim then there would be absolute uproar by the Tory idiots.

It makes sense to let the attack continue then rule the goal out if offside than stop a perfectly good attack only to find out it should have carried on.
-
Well that’s typical of today’s Premier League - the big clubs hoovering up any half decent player just to sit on their bench all season.
-
Good interview but though i’m probably reading too much into it, they do seem to be pushing the idea that our squad doesn’t need much of an overhaul which is a little bit worrying. Hughes has been round the block a bit so surely he wouldn’t have taken it on without a decent sized war chest?
-
That's always been my main reason for going anyway. We support Southampton - the football part has almost always been sh!t.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Odd that the doc didn’t mention any other symptoms like dizziness, blurred vision or head aches. Only playing football like a w@nker.
-
That concussion excuse is laughable, they really are sore losers.
-
All the extra money does is inflate player wages and attract more foreign players. I would much rather see less money, more English players and a more competitive league where teams like Saints stand a decent chance. It would also benefit the national side.
-
It would be the same for all the others outside the ‘big 6’ so wouldn’t matter one little bit. I think it would be a fantastic league without them in it.

I not convinced that internet trolls and misinformation is really that much of a threat, the press is full of all sorts of lies around election time anyway. Any input from Russia is just a fart in a jaccuzi.
-
Russia is effectively a police state and I would hate to live there. I agree with the OP about the World Cup but I'm not sure what threat it is to me, today, in Romsey?
-
Is that really much of a threat though, considering how good our political parties already are at manipulation through the media and misinformation?
-
"hackers, trolls, paid protesters and misinformation " - scary stuff

This. Playing a weakened team in the Sunderland match was unforgivable considering we were pretty much guaranteed to finish 8th. Pellegrino showed more guts in the cup and we were up to our necks in a relegation scrap. That could very well have been our year for the FA cup, had we taken Sunderland’s place we would have played Hull in the quarters, Sheffield Utd in the semi and a beatable Arsenal in the final. But mr ‘no trophy’ Pochettino ****ed it up the wall.

That's nonsense, Lawrie brought through youngsters as well but anyway, the job of a manager is to win football matches and trophies, the age of the players is irrelevant. Getting the best out of top players at the end of their career is fantastic management for a club our size. Jimmy Case is still one of my favourite ever players.
