  3. 1. Font (Fonte) 2. Saints have not beaten a premier league side since dropping out of that league (Blackpool = ?)
  4. Maybe he didn't want to come here. Maybe Swindon / Posh don't want to sell to L1 rivals. Maybe the asking price was extortionate for players who have never played higher than L1. Maybe the players' wage demands were excessive. Maybe we didn't bid in the first place and have other targets up our sleeves. Why do we always need to blame somebody?
  5. The greatest trick that Charlie Austin ever played, was convincing the world that he would sign for Saints....
  6. This bit on that thread made me laugh: Quote from: Don Rogers Shop on Today at 18:29:02 "Just heard a horrible rumour that he has a medical at Southampton tomorow. Hope it's bo.llocks" I think they'll probably check all of him At least gallows humour isn't restricted to this board!
  7. Ahhhh, the Daily Fail - you gotta love 'em. I think the journo covers pretty much every eventuality in that article; after definitively stating that Wenger "WILL end the race" for Oxo, we learn that the deal could be disrupted by a late Man City bid and that Oxo may even be loaned back to us for the season. Priceless.
  8. Cue the Prozac brigade who think matches only last 20 minutes....
  9. Is that a euphemism?
  10. Very interesting....backs up what I have been told this morning by a friend who works for Swindon in an administrative capacity.
  11. Medial?
  12. If there is any truth to this, and assuming NC is pretty much insisting on promotion this year, then I can only assume that the owners and leaders at SFC will go out and use our comparitively strong financial position to purchase somebody who has the ability to do a similar - if not exactly the same - job as AL for the team. Logic suggests that this is the only reasonable course of action.
  13. Brighton 1 up
  14. Hudders 2-1 up
  15. Walsall 1 Hudders 1
  16. I used to teach Adam, when he was 15/16 and on Arsenal's books. Not sure he is what we need.....
  17. Orient 2 Col U 0
  18. Nail on head. Totally agree. The football under Adkins is, above all, much quicker of thought which in turn makes it more imaginative and more unpredictable for the opposition. Pardew relied on RL and we had the simple speed of PW and MA to feed off his knock downs, but, if not entirely one dimensional, it was a little simplistic. Adkins thinks more about how his sides play, and that is now starting to shine through. Second half yesterday, in particular, was a joy to watch. The fact that goals are now coming from all over the park tells you more than a little.
  19. Terry Hurlock and Perry Groves in the Bedford Arms circa 1992/3. Finally plucked up the courage, after a few pints, to go over to them to say hello and ask for an autograph, only to be told by big bad Terry to "f**k off".
  20. I'm giving an amnesty to the whole back line for the first 15 minutes yesterday because they looked incredibly sluggish and off the pace. However, thereafter I thought Jaidi and Fonte were both immense, so much so that Alan Lee, a real bully of a forward, got subbed. Fonte just nicks MOTM for me as he just did the basics so well, and so effortlessly.
  21. Well lets hope Huddersfield goes ahead today and they'll be knackered Tuesday. Every cloud and all that.....
  22. It doesn't say that. It simply states that the next review of the situation is tomorrow morning. A pitch inspection is far more specific. I think it will be fine.
  23. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2249933,00.html Interesting and very positive approach from Adkins. He repeatedly states that "we will win that game" before turning to the next on the fixture list and repeating the same mantra. Obviously there is the potential for setting oneself up for a fall with such rhetoric, but you have to admire his balls and his positivity; he is being unequivocal in what he expects. Notice, too, the references to the "squad we will have in January". He says the same thing twice, in slightly different fashion each time, but it is there nonetheless. By using the future tense, it appears to me that he is making explicit reference to the players who are coming in (otherwise why not say "with the squad we have"?). Again, this makes positive (and exciting) reading.
  24. Patred is connected and usually on the money; he also has links up in Norwich, though I cannot remember how/why (goalkeeping coach of some kind?). Martin was banging them in for Norwich last season in L1, so that would be a very useful signing. I just wonder why they would want to let him go, even in part-ex for Puncheon (if indeed they are after him).
  25. Weather is supposed to warm up by Boxing Day ( up to 4/5 degrees). It'll be fine in south-east London. I'm in north Kent (about 30 miles from the Valley) and there has already been a partial thaw today. Motorways/ roads are fine in and out of area around Valley (seen them myself today).
