The Official Summer Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread

I suppose mentioning Oliver Bierhoff is no longer 'de rigeur'?..... ;-) -
Martin did well, and as I mentioned on the back from the game thread, he grew in confidence. Fonte had a torrid time up against Howe. I just feel we need a brick outhouse to complement Fonte. Jaidi can do that job, but age and injury will increasingly play a role in how often he plays. Connolly was my MOTM.

Watching the game today, that was my feeling exactly. We were lost without him first half. The difference after he came on was tangible.

One if the advantages of being exiled in north Kent is that I am home already! Woeful first half from us. Fonte was having a terrible game and we looked lost without Lambert's presence and clever play. Connolly had a great chance after 2 minutes after a defensive Gills mess up, but we never seemed to get going after that. Martin had a few sticky moments, but grew in confidence, as did Mills. Lloyd James, however, was terrible I am afraid. Second half and Lambert on, and we are a different side. Papa brought a good edge to the game and we scored. Could have had a couple more, but it wasn't to be. I really felt for the Saints fans getting soaked as my son and I sat under cover. All in all quite an entertaining game, but one from which Pardew will have learnt much about those who will be staying and those who will leave. A new, box to box CM is a must, as is a CB. Possibly another CF to take the burden off Lambert.

I had a West Ham supporting friend who dragged me up to Oldham to watch a league cup game in the 80s. Oldham had their plastic pitch and Frankie Bunn scored six goals. Still remarkable, 25 odd years later. At least our pitch is grass and Bunn has long since retired....

Anybody else notice the DVD being advertised in the middle of that Mirror article on Pompey? "Law Abiding Citizen". Ooooooh the irony.....

My closest game of the season: 1.8 miles home to ground, compared to 130 miles to SMS! I shall be in the Medway stand upper tier with my boy; one of the fringe benefits of living in Medway is that your postcode allows you to buy tickets in the home stand! If anybody needs any local info, just PM me.

LTC, if I weren't already married with children, I would marry you and have your children. Even though I am a man. And not gay. Thank you.

Random comment, but anybody else think Paul Merson's speech is slurred on SSN? He seems very odd to me.

Well done Saints ; fantastic result. All we can do is keep winning and see where it takes us. Huddersfield just about beat 10 man Walsall with two goals in the final minutes. Hardly convincing on their part; they will slip up again and we just have to make sure that we are there to take advantage. The Force is with us, I feel.....

What, because it's written by intelligent men and women with a world view which is broad enough to go beyond thinking that immigrants are responsible for all this country's ills and that MI5 killed the "People's Princess"??

I once met Richard Dryden in McDonalds at Fleet services. And I was witness to Carlton Palmer and John Beresford being locked in a car park next to Barnet's ground by an over zealous security guard prior to a friendly in 1998.

Any odds on Rupert Lowe being the mystery backer? Karma, sweet, sweet karma.....

Re-read that last line of yours.... And then try and understand what an unpleasant person you paint yourself as (though I am sure you are a modern nihilist who cares not what others think).

This is LO's second game in 48 hours; they are bound to tire in the next 10 minutes or so. Time for us to really step up the pressure.
